I finished one Kato F-7 today. I modified the side skirts and fuel tank, milled the sides of each frame to appear more prototypical above the fuel tank, added Gold Medal models grabs and stirrups along with a few other odds and ends. It is lettered for my Trinity River & Western, circa 1970. Sorry about the photos; I need to brush up on my photo skills. I am so used to photographing O narrow gauge and this N stuff takes a little getting used to! Please click the link. Kato F-7 #38 Thanks, Chuck C FW
Nice! Is that a freelance line, or a shortline? Good work, and the pics are pretty nice as well. Don't knock your photography...
I'm afraid you are going to have to provide technical info on that custom work. The grills look awesome. I was thinking that was an O scale model based on the detail.
Very nice job, Chuck, very nice. I looked twice to ensure it was N, too! And I wouldn't worry too much about your photographic skills with those two photos - if they are to be criticised, I'd say a little more reflected light or take them outside. Otherwise tey are fine.
Thanks! The grills are Plano etched metal ones applied with ACC after the model was clear coated. Then I brushed a thinned, with water, Polly Scale engine black so it could flow into the recesses. When that dried, I used a pencil eraser to clean up the side. I have an F-3 in progress to match. All of the work has been done; I just need to decal it. I'll post some photos of the frame later. The roadname is my own. I figured since I am modeling the Frisco in Fort Worth, I also needed a little short line to go with it! Chuck C FW
awesome work chuck.. if I need an F series detailed in the future I'm giving you a call my man ! very nice
I looked at some of your other pics, and the one of that Frisco Fairbanks-Morse switcher is nice! I like the modelwork- it actually looks like it's pulled a long shift in the yard. Have you any more shots of your motive power? We'd love to see them!!
