I'm curious to find out what other peoples favorite rail equipment is. This could be locomotives, cars, MOW, turntables, signaling i.e; wig-wags, semiphores, etc....

My favorites are AC-4400 locos, 17,000+ gal tanks ( the messier the better), and a blast from the past, wig-wags!

I've always been intrigued with signals, and the different types found on different roads. A couple of Saturdays ago I found a pair of old Wig Wag signals in a small town in WI. It looked like a train had not gone done the tracks in years. The signals were in good shape, man I wish I could have rescued them.

Heavy lifting equipement, cranes (steam or diesel), and MOW equipement. Derailment cleanup machines, HUGE side lift CAT bulldozers (HULCHER CO. in particular, you have to see those guys in action!)

Train order signals. Milwaukee Road electrification stuff such as poles, catenary, substations, and the electrics themselves. Plus, if it's allowed in this thread, depots!!! Especially Milw and NP.

mopac transfer cabeese, also i would have to say grain hoppers, there is just something about an old, abused hopper covered in graffitti being switched into an elevator.

I like steam locos. I just love hearing the whine of the generator, the kathud kathud kathud of the compressor, and all the other associated mechanical noises.

NP's North Coast Limited, GN heavy electrics, the W1 class; CB&Q SD40's in Redbird scheme, any of the 800+ BN SD40-2's, any MOW equipment is eye candy for me, and anything with BN Tiger stripes on the nose.

This just in: My model of BN 8002, the only tigerstriped SD40-2 on the roster is almost complete! Just needs couplers, and red highlights on the fuel tank. Pics to follow soon! [IMG]
