A question to N scalers: Years ago the Hallmark company put out a series of railroad models as Christmas Ornaments. I have several of them. if anyone is familiar with them , do you know if they will fit on N scale track? They appear to be N scale but I don't have anything to reference them to. I don't want to buy any N scale track and find that it is not correct. Can anyone help me?

    Hi Charlie,
I have a few of those Hallmark ornaments and if I remember correctly, they are really close but off just enough they won't sit on N scale track. I remember for sure one the UP M-10000 that it is just under scale width.

    Thanks,
    Richard

Many of them are N or close.
The UP stock car, 1880 RPO (part of the “General” set), and SP style caboose could be fitted with N trucks and couplers and would make decent models.

I really wish Hallmark would do some American Flyer items.....especially the B&O Royal Blue/Circus/Silver Bullet engine and tender, Reading Atlantic, and any other of the Pacifics.

After all, probably half of us had the realistic toy trains without a center third rail.....

    Charlie,

No flame retardant required, I'm laughing now thinking my lack of interest in Lionel iwhen I was 7 or 8 years old foretold my future interest in [rototype modeling. Should AF had been readily available here in hicksville, things might have been very different.
