A micro layout by yours truly on exhibit at the El Paso History Museum. The locomotive and train will need to log in 800 hours of run time between now and June.
About five weeks into the exhibit, and the new edition of the Bachmann American Type is off to a strong start.
I'd like to say all my experience with Bachmann has been as good as they look, but cannot. Same for my model train buds. BUT this piece seems to be a winner, so far. I got this because my friend got one first, and it runs sweet, too. It's going to get a lot of use, so we'll know what it's worth.
Yeah, I got that. Damn shame. Looks like this might be good. I hurriedly sent off the warranty registration.
Great video and micro layout. The “Old West” 4-4-0 has always been my favorite loco of all and inspired my railroad modeling hobby. I’ve always been on the hunt for the best models. The Rivarossi Genoa type was smooth but a bit over scaled and the old Bachmann was coffee grinder. This newer Bachmann DCC version is the best. It has super slow running ability and decent electrical pick up. I wish the factory decoder was a full function Tsunami but I can live with the bare bones decoder.
It has been a challenge finding a reliable, smooth 1860's American Type. Even the brass stuff, when I can locate it, doesn't look terribly impressive. Finally Bachmann seems to have made something that works right, looks good, and runs slow. Generally, model railheads like slow, and manufacturers have had a hard time addressing the demand, until the last decade or so.
