I wonder about the weather. Another botched forecast here, this week. Never came near the highs they trumpeted. Breezy, with light snow flurries this afternoon, and not even out of the thirties.
It's been up n down. Had two great days in the upper to mid 60's Fri and Sat. The river ice went out last night twixt 8 and ten even! Then we had cold weather n light snow this morning and now the sun is back out. Good ole goofy weather!
Got home tonight and the promised snow finally showed up. So I had to go take a walk around and see if any of the pics would come out.
Get cold just looking at that but man, those are some cool pics. Really like how the one of the 2747 turned out.
And a couple vids, one from "Lucky Friday the 13th" and another from yesterday a.m., before the snow!
And before that couple of pics, it really started to snow hard for a bit. So, I fortunately saw this empty leaving town and was able to wiggle my way down Marsh Rd to the west crossing and capture it! Fun!
It is a part of a Herzog Railroad Services track maintenance unit. Which come in many variants, so we'd need to see another view to know more. This particular control cab is the unpowered end.
It has an identical cab on the other end and two track hoe units. When it showed up here it was loaded up with used ties, which got unloaded sometime or other that I didn't see. It is a neat looking thing, tho.
Had the distinct pleasure of getting stuck at the old elevator crossing yesterday. Of course it was snowing and the railroad just had to keep working! They were picking up loads and pulling them off two different sidings a to make up a short train.
Well, it got sunny yesterday! And is supposed to be warm this weekend, so it may have been our last snow.... Here's what that elevator looks like, The frost is even still on the rails there, as it was everywhere yesterday morning. The sun being so bright messes up my camera sometimes, blurs the numbers on the cabsides,
And a video of some switching on the east end. They were pulling hard getting out of the yard. The brakes really got to singing on the backup move!
And as of yesterday evening, the snow is about half gone. Yes, I am weird, liking snow and all. Anywho, here's a stack train I caught, barely, as it crawled out of town. Speed restrictions apply as they pull off the yard lead onto the mainline.
