Latest update - I decided to tackle modeling the Mississippi (and some backwaters) instead of ballast. It was about a 3 week process, but I think it turned out like I visualized. Again, my layout is “inspired” by the terrain along the Mississippi between La Crosse and Buffalo City, WI. So it may not be 100% accurate, but it looks good to me. photos!
I'm thinking I would like to get some photos of the bluffs from across the river looking to the east to use as a backdrop. maybe capture a BNSF train as well.
