Of course it wouldn't be a weekend without making a mess too. Started out by gluing down a couple of new sections or road. Here we see an assortment of items holding the road down while it dries.
    04_roadwork1.JPG

Once it had dries, I added some ballast and ground cover to each side of the roadway.
    05_roadwork2.JPG

There were two new trackside mechanical boxes in the weeks deliver that were placed but no pic. The other item was some fencing for the farm one side got painted but not the other so maybe next weekend it will be finished and ready to install. All in all, it was a fun staying home and self quarantining for a couple of days weekend working on the layout.

Now it's back to the office for another fun week of work and wonder what will change every day. Stay safe everyone.

I like the way you did the track stub that goes no where but simulates going somewhere! Brilliant!

Thanks MK, doesn't look like much now but I think it's going to looks cool when done. Will add some interest in the background of some views on the layout.

Well, another fun weekend of shelter in place. I'm kind of liking this not having hectic busy weekends.

First up this weekend, I cleaned up some excess ballast and ground cover to reveal a new roadway. In the process, some hoppers were dropped off and a driver showed up and is waiting for a bulk commodities trailer to be brought to him so he can start unloading a hopper.
    20200404_124312.jpg

Then we set up a few items for painting including some fence that didn't make the picture.
    20200404_124334.jpg

but before going out to paint, I put down the new parking lit sections and weighted them for the glue to dry.

After going out and painting the fence and relay boxes, I piddled around for a bit running trains and looking for my farm scene items.

By this point the parking lots were ready for more attention. This one is done except for a couple of signs and a spot to touch up.
    20200405_130335.jpg

On the other side, the glue was dry enough to go ahead and put down the parking curbs and some ground cover at one end. Once this one is all dry, it will just need a couple of signs and will be basically done.

    and one more wider view

So, now the paint on the fence and relay boxes was dry
    20200405_131056.jpg

Farm scene, here we come! Moved all the items from the work desk over by the farm to start with. 20200405_132243.jpg

Next up was installing fencing and adding some detail items.
    20200405_135624.jpg
    20200405_135629.jpg

then added in a driveway of sorts. Still some clean up to do.
    20200405_154347.jpg

And as you can see, it would appear the cows have come home :D

I finished up the weekend with working on a few more roads
    20200405_154410.jpg

Next projects are finishing the road at the grade crossing. Already have the sections cut for it as you can see.
    20200405_154413.jpg

And then it will be time to paint the poles and backs of all these signs aluminum or silver (depends on what I have in the paint stock.
    20200405_154839.jpg

All in all, it was a pretty good weekend. Hope everyone is staying safe and doing well.

Ah, I remember seeing a couple of these barns passing through Tennessee and traveling through other states.

BNSF FAN, wow! The parking lot and fencing look damn good! Hey, you need more fencing around the layout perimeter of the farm else the cows will fall off the edge. They're not that smart you know! :D:ROFLMAO::LOL:

I grew up in Chattanooga and saw those barns all my life so I knew I had to have one on my layout. :)

Thanks for the kind words sir. As for falling off the edge, you should know by now that since the earth is flat, you don't fall off the edge, you just move to a new plain of existence………. :D:p:ROFLMAO::LOL:

That's some really nice work BNSF FAN and it will most certainly bring a smile to everyone who sees it. LOVE the Rock City barn -- just the perfect thing. :)

Thanks Hardcoaler! Hopefully, I will get enough of these little scenes done that it will look like a good layout someday. :)

For some reason, I didn't take pics of everything I did over the weekend so will have to take some more this evening if I can. So, here are the few I did take.

Worked on some roads on the layout. More progress than just this though.
    cproad1.JPG

Not quite sure why I did that S curve but we shall see how it works out
    cproad2.JPG

Made progress on the bulk dry goods trailer.
    Bulk Trailer 001.JPG

Have an old electrical substation kit that did make it to the workbench. I also had a bunch of road signs that needed the post painted and I was able to finish that up. Now I can start installing some of them. Worked on the scenic divide a little but didn't get it back in place.

Looks fantastic! I am sure you recall that if you need more pasture, a cattle guard will let you access land across the rails. (Not that you need more to do :) .) Actually, I need to practice what I preach.

Thank you. That is a good idea but I think I'll live with the impression that the pastureland extends off the layout or if your one of those flat planet guys, then extends down the side and across the bottom. :D:ROFLMAO::p

And of course we all know there is always more to do :)

    Signs, signs, everywhere a sign...….

A few post back, I posted some pics of some new signs I bought. The signs themselves look great but the yellow or white poles and backs just were not right. I decided so go with a silver/aluminum finish to make them look better. Here they are set up and ready to paint.
    signsRTP.JPG

After a quick spray of silver.
    signsRTP2.JPG

And then after a few hours to make sure they were good and dry, I removed them . Here we see fronts and backs. Turned out pretty much as I hoped.
    signsRTP3.JPG

And of course some made it to the layout already

Thanks for the comments on the signs guys. I thought those would be a nice touch. Still have to find a couple of others that I would like to have. The round yellow RR crossing ahead signs and the Yield signs are two in particular plus some speed limit signs.
