My N scale D&RGW SD45s had to have a truck swap to get the proper low brake cylinder trucks. This shows the details well, thanks! "Flirting with the Dark Side" A ballast conveyor train (near as I can tell) charges west at MP 2.8, BNSF Glasgow Sub during golden hour, from what turned out to be the wrong side of the tracks...
From November 2003 - A tired looking form SP unit is trailing southbound through Atlanta GA on the CSX
A few more random shots from the Birmingham, AL area in 1990. The first is of GP-15-1 BN 1399 at East Thomas, AL, the former Frisco terminal. The other is of Cheney Railroad's l'il 44-Tonner toting a boxcar to interchange near Pinson. The Cheney was owned by a cement company and from what I read, the line has since been removed.
"Amtrak Station Blue Hour Manifest" At the Great Northern-built Minot Amtrak station, a BNSF mixed freight rolls slowly up to Soo Tower waiting for a hot cracker stacker, several miles distant, as light fades. The middle GE unit was not online, so this one was all-EMD and sounded great when they finally got their signal to head west. Rokinon 14mm lens.
Tuscaloosa, AL is best known for the Crimson Tide of the University of Alabama, but my interest there was in railroading. First in March 1984 is the Crescent on the SOU main crossing the ICG (former GM&O) branch to Montgomery. Second is the SOU in January 1985 looking ever so fine with a long freight.
Tuscaloosa also hosted an ICG yard with all sorts of interesting stuff. Each time I visited, there was nobody around and I took full advantage for pictures. The locomotive shots are from March and April of 1984 and the pair of boxcars from March 1986.
IC 3107 leading the CN Cedar Rapids local northbound through Hiawatha, IA. The same three units are still on the local this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
