Mine runs better with the shell off, and with the air tanks off, I wish that someone other than Arnold
It's an Electric pickup issue, the type shere anything makes it sputter. I put the body back on and it runs better.
I have two of the Arnold SW1's Which I DCC'ed. They have a traction tire on one wheel of each truck which provides great traction but reduces pickup by 25%. Still they operate well on clean track. Spookshow has a nice writeup on this locomotive The electrical pickup issue is the biggest problem. Spookshow attributes this to the coating on the wheels and says running it a while will solve the problem. The second biggest problem is getting the shell off. I had a heck of a time even after reading the instructions a couple of times.
The Pacific Electric MOW department has been very busy. They have tore out the Playa Desnuda junction, and are reconfiguring it into a real junction. While nothing is nailed/glued down, here is the basic layout of the track geometry. I am not worried about the tight radius, the track that runs off the front of the layout is not going to have any power. The switch is going to be permanently set to head into the yard. The main track will lead run to the back to be a staging track. Operationally, an op session will start with either the Playa Desnuda switcher going to the staging track and bringing the cars in, or a Southern Pacific train pulling it in. The Pacific Electric named branches off of their destination, the yards are usually named after the streets that they are next to (except for Delores)...and the junctions were either named after the location, other than Oscar's Junction.... We have the Playa Desnuda Branch and The Washington Blvd yard....but what should the junction be named?
Thanks, it's a small yard, so I plan to take my time, the track work on the main layout was rushed and a little sloppy in places. I am really surprised that I have very few derailments, and those are usually caused by fouled switches....
Well...I don't have any figures...and I agree. The CFO agreed that I could build the extension if if didn't cost anything....
Um...that's the Sierra...and no, I will not model the town of Hooterville....how that name got past the sensors in the 1960's is beyond me. I am pushing the limits with Playa Desnuda.....
Hmmm....I could have a long, long, 1953 New Moon trailer being pulled by a 1953 Mercury Monterey Convertible with Babalu and Breezin' Along With the Breeze playing in the background....
While the wife ran out to pick up dinner, I had enough time to go out to the garage and cut some flex track to fit. I nailed the track in to place, and I plan to start gluing the flex down tomorrow morning.
