Including predecessor roads. Lets see what everyone can dig up. NS 2381 switching the north end of NS DeButts Yard - Chattanooga TN
At least one of these switchers was a harbinger of things to come. October 1987, Norris Yard in Irondale, AL.
Yes, it's a roadswitcher. But I couldn't resist. Yes, that particular short line--whatever is left of it--is part of the NS system.
What's amazing is that sister unit NS 1616 survives (inoperative) at the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, NC. [Photo not mine, is from www.aeromoe.com]
Not NS, but of NS heritage. A SOU cow and calf pair as seen in December 1977 at John Sevier Yard in Knoxville, TN.
NS SW-1500s #2309 in June of 1993 at Charlotte, NC and the #2305 in July of '89 at Biltmore, NC. All of NS's SW-1500s have since departed from the roster.
Two more SOU switchers, including the 2375 at Knoxville, TN in Feb. 1980 and the 2422 at Irondale, AL in Oct. 1987. Both are MP-15DCs.
