Welcome back everyone. I've fired up the pot belly stove here at the station, we are supposed to get a hard frost tonight and the highs for May are down right low. Sounds like the perfect weekend to stay indoors.

I almost forgot due to the winter like weather we are having, but this Sunday is Mothers Day! Make sure you thank your Mom and Wife for all they do and all they put up with from us!

Saturday: This is my "off" weekend from the dealership although I might go in if boredom strikes. I'm almost finished with the last two turnouts on my layout and I'm really wanting to run a few operations sessions as well as think about what industries to use for the layout.

Sunday: Is supposed to be a high of 49 degrees with high winds out of the north, so another day to get something done. I built an I beam style cassette out of 1/4-inch plywood last fall to be used with my layout and I think this is the weekend to work on it. I'll go ahead and install the cork roadbed, Micro Engineering turnout and flex track and work on the supports that will allow me to not only use it at home, but latter at shows. In an ideal world, I will be able to get all of that done so I can get it ready for stain and finish when and IF it ever warms up.

So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 11th to see how we all did. Until then, stay warm, stay healthy, stay safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Three day weekend! Hoping to at least get part of the new lights and outlets in the basement turned on this weekend. That should dramatically improve the visibility in the dark corners.

The wife said I could start on layout construction when her craft room is ready. She and the kids are going to spend a week at her mom and dad’s next week, (haven’t visited since Christmas) so I’m going to buckle down and get her space and the bathroom framed in over the next two weeks.

Ever closer to putting up benchwork!

Going to be a cool weekend down south as well. Would probably be great railfanning weather but the wife probably won't go for it. So, that means more work on the electrical sub station for sure and maybe a little (and I do mean little) work outside in the yard. Sunday is Mother's Day so some of the day will be tied up with that. If I do get some free time, I am hoping I will get the substation completed as I probably won't be able to do it all on Saturday.

Hope everyone has a great and safe weekend!

I'm hoping to get started on my n scale diorama this weekend. I have a few ideas where I am going to go with it but wont know until I do some dry fitting. I found a piece of plywood for the base now to root around the barn and find some scraps of insulation board...I know there is some in there somewhere :) . Very anxious to get started.

Well. Let's see. Several weekends ago i "finally" broke out the static grass machine I had never used. Worked well. PROBLEM was it was too big for small areas. So I ordered a small PECO PSG-3 which is like micro size static tool. I got an email notice from UPS it will be delivered today. I am hoping to use it and try it out this weekend.

So HOPEFULLY, I do not get carried away. If I DO GET carried away with the grass machine, my report (and house) Monday will look something like this:

Track laying has commenced, and so will continue.

I also have a gondola sent as a surprise gift by a train buddy that is going to become one of these, though lettered for a different road.

I am going to try to build a bunch of reefers. However given that I had to replace factory installed couplers on five of six Atlas tank cars my supply of Kadee couplers is low. I had to order so more which won't get here to next week.

Probably won't do any modeling this weekend as grades are due Monday.

Miserable weekend weather expected here. Even calling for a couple of inches of frozen precipitation (I refuse to utter the s- word). Got a few household chores to do, then I'll move to the basement and mostly run a few trains. I have a few small issues to fix first. I found out the hard way that I installed an electrofrog turnout on a mainline siding that needs to be switched to an insulated frog. And maybe weathering track and more ballasting. There's still a lot of work to do (Layout is roughly 60% done), but if you lose motivation if you don't stop working on it to run a few trains every now and then. I'll try to take a few pictures.

Happy Mom's day to all the wives and mothers.

I haven't been out railfanning in months and it's making me crazy. Missed NS 12R's departure this morning with the 1800 (DC to AC Yellow Nose) leading and the 1065 (S&A Heritage Unit) trailing, and all on a lovely morning made for photography. :(

In the meanwhile I'm moving furniture around in my train room so as to allow my tables to fit when I build them. Space is at a premium. The layout will be on casters so that I can access the backside if needed and everything has to fit just so.

After making space for it last weekend, this morning I picked up my eight foot folding banquet table. Combined with my four footer, I now have the potential for an "L" shaped base, upon which my T-Trak or HOn30 modules can be set up. Will start testing/measuring scenarios tomorrow.
