    GREETINGS ALL!
Just wanted to say HI to everyone and of course introduce myself.
I am an avid modeler from the central Ohio area . . . Pickerington, a suburb of Columbus.
I have been an enthusiast for over 50 years. I am now retired and starting construction of my "dream layout". Nothing too outlandish . . . something manageable, 6'x11'.
My layout will be based loosely on the PRR in southern Ohio serving industries on and around the Ohio river. It will also include my own short-line the "Ohio and Mississippi".
Hmm-m-m-m . . . what more can I say except glad to be "all aboard"!
    Thanks . . . NAD (Dan/drums147)

Welcome to TB! I work on modeling the GM&O myself. Pertains to the river of course...but still, Ohio. :D

Welcome Dan. I am in Central Ohio also. I grew up on the Ohio River. Working on a plan for the old Ohio River and Western. A what if it had survived another 50 years.

    Welcome to TrainBoard!

Just for fun, as you might find this interesting- there actually once was an "Ohio & Mississippi Railway".

Super! That is sort of my idea . . . but I am taking total artistic-license. My layout is mid to late-fifties and since they didn't survive that long I can do pretty much anything I like. I am also modeling the PRR (again, a scenario from my imagination) and the main purpose of the O&M will be to serve as a platform to operate my steam locomotives. DAN

WOW! Thank you . . . this is excellent!
I am aware it was once an operating railway, but that is a neat piece . . .
Anyway, I am mostly stealing the name and will be operating the line in the 1950s in a "what if" scenario.
My backstory is, it was once a proud and mighty railroad, but they have slipped into hard times; while they still operate and maintain their steam locomotives, they are having difficulty transitioning to diesels.
    Thanks again . . . DAN

I have considered the early 70s as well . . . right now I have my PRR locomotives, but I think about the roadnames I could include if I went to 1970, NYC and PC . . . and if I went to 1980 I would have Conrail and could include just about any roadname east of the Mississippi . . . man! So who knows, a layout is never done . . . perhaps it will evolve . . .

So true on it never being done. I have ripped up track 3 times now getting something I like. Considering yet another rework.
I have a thing for Chessie and Norfolk Western. So will interchange with both. And have a Steam excursion run through.
