Welcome back everyone. I hope those who live in Metro areas are safe with everything going on. Even in my neck of the woods, violence has flared up. Let's see if we got any modeling done. Saturday: I just worked and came home. I did operate the layout a bit which was a nice way to unwind. Sunday: I started the day by running a few operating sessions on the layout to further unwind. Later, my father in law joined us and we ended up doing a 200 mile plus trip on the motorcycles. We had a good time but when we stopped for dinner about an hour south of home, we found out riots were breaking out in Champaign and neighboring areas. We cut our plans short and went home. So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend? Let us know. We will do it all over again on Friday the 5th. Until then, stay healthy, stay safe and as always... High Greens!
Just another day for me. Worked Saturday. Sunday as usual was my cooking day. Everything homemade. Yogurt, granola, bread, oatmeal, salsa, pasta salad and salad dressing. Then some web surfing and modeling. I completed four car kits and they are ready for painting. I spent a little time with CorelDraw and Cricut Design Space only to become frustrated. I did receive some good advice from Mr. Trainiac and RRay so after work today I'll be back on the computer trying again. Have a good week. Be good, be safe and all that other stuff.
Made a bit of progress on the SW900 and SW8 Added the MU stands to both and end stanchions to the SW8 -- next weekend - hand rails Hope Y'all had a great weekend, Wolf
Nothing here. Chores and fatigue Saturday, then work. Sunday we had tornadic winds (70mph), and heavy rains. Power out all day. *Sigh*.
Spent most of my modeling time putting down ~ 30' of track ballast or about 15LF of double track run. Also started cleaning up my workshop which is a dang disaster zone right now. The ballast took quite a bit of time because I put it down up to and on both sides my most recent bridges. Takes a bunch of time at the bridge entry to get that stuff looking right. Also, last night after it dried, I ran some trains and discovered I had, somehow, gotten a short run of track off of vertical level, about 6" before entering a bridge. I had shimmed one side to get it level, but had driven a spike way to hard opposite the shim and drove one rail lower than the other. Fortunately, the fix will be easy and I will tackle that during the week. I don't want to spend NEXT weekends project time fixing LAST weekend's project time. Here's the only shot I took, looking away from the bridges.
The last three turnouts and two short pieces of connecting track are down. NOw to finish the last two sidings . . .
Well, it was quite the weekend wasn't it. Friday night, I stayed up watching the protest here in the ATL turn into riots and looting. Saturday, I watched as good people came out and volunteered to clean up the mess from Friday night. Then I worked on the layout for a bit. Mainly, I made some signs and applied them along with pouring another layer of water. Then headed back upstairs to watch the SpaceX launch followed by watching more protesting, rioting and looting in Atlanta. Sunday, I watched the SpaceX docking with the ISS, took a nap, and then watched more protesting, rioting and looting in Atlanta. I'm tired folks. Glad I have friends here and a hobby to escape to. Hope you all stay safe, Covid19 free and free from the violence. I wish you all a great week.
Finally did some modeling this weekend. Made some progress on both the passenger station and the gas station. Will be posting photos in the Huron Central thread soon.
As I may have mentioned before, I had to put my brother Scan-n-cut aside due to the learning curve and other priorities. Be persistent, check "u-tube". I am sure you will succeed.
I am glad all are safe here. All kinds of issues. 70 MPH winds! riots. The "mind-ya-bidness" committee may have to cite BNSF Fan for watching too much TV ( I said hypocritically). All the projects look great. I am redoing trackage due to a previous personal error. Also, a turnout upgrade test prototype is being worked on. Also, cars are back in the shop for repair or upgrade. I may take a nap.
Crazy weekend. Everything started out well but went to crap real fast. Yesterday our community had a nice peaceful protest with no problems. The police superentiant even participated. However, as evening approached looting broke out in West Philadelphia. Soon it spread into the main shopping district of our township, 69th Street which is about 3 miles from us. This is where SEPTA has their main suburban hub with buses, trolleys, the Norristown High Speed Line (P&W), and Market-Frankford El which all were shut down. The Upper Darby police did a great job of containing the looting and not letting it to spread. They weren't arresting too many people but they were taking down license plates. The mayor put our township under a curfew last night. My son was going to participate in a community clean up starting at 8 AM. It was canceled because by 8 AM the township had everything cleaned up. I did fix the front door threshold. Took longer than what I had hoped but it is done. My wife hurt her shoulder. She is not sure how she did it but she woke up with it. She wasn't able to do much yesterday. She is better today but doesn't want to push it. Of course I did not get any modeling done or even anything for weekend photos.
As planned nothing completed. Next is to get a couple kits ready to build. One is a laser kit needing paint. Blair Line suggests a spray paint.
