Okay, I clicked on the link in my e-mail, and I guess that means I'm golden. I'm not necessarily a name brand person, but I like to glean and contribute as much information as I can relating to our hobby. I'm with Verne, I don't dig flamefests, I don't plan on getting into any of that, and I like the laid-back atmosphere here as well! I plan to check out the Atlas forum from time to time just to see what's up over there.
Codeman---I tried to get on, too---I had to log in, and my username and password were already displayed. When I clicked the login button, I was informed they were "incorrect." I redid my password to make sure, but still "incorrect username and/or password." Weird!
Jay: You have to open up an email from Atlas and answer it. Then you will have completed the registration.. Have fun...
How long did it take everyone to receive their email from Atlas after performing the initial registration process? I've been waiting over an hour and a half now for mine.
Mine was nearly instantaneous. Yes, Atlas may be back up, but time will tell if they will ever regain the activity they once enjoyed. A combination of tougher new rules (we’ll see if they are enforced consistently) and a “ho-hum” attitude from those who found new homes over the break could take a toll. I think this place has always been a good, solid, consistent, and well run forum. It’s been great to see the pick-up in activity over the summer and I hope that it won’t decline too much.
...also having problems registering.... Maybe they rushed to get the board up before the end of August??
A lot of us can't get beyond the "I agree" button on the Atlas Forum. No answer to an e-mail about it either that was sent to "forum@atlasrr.com" The problem with a "sponsored" board is this is giving Atlas a black eye that has nothing to do with its product quality.
Hey Brett - I never got my confirming e-mail. Ever. It gets better. You can't reregister with different user name with the same e-mail, either! So it won't let me in to try again, and won't send the e-mail, and won't let me login with the username I took out. No answer from the forum e-mail. If somebody sees a solution in there of who to contact or what to do, pass it on. I can certainly live without it, but it is irritating. Sounds to me like a 'rush job' to get it up and running and it will take a while to discover all the problems..... All together boys:
Registering worked for me. But I like it here, too, so I expect not to be "@Atlas" too often. Have to monitor a german N scale forum, too Christoph
Let's see now, a quick tabulation of activity on the new Atlas board since it opened: About 100 topics started, approaching 1000 posts with over 800 members registered. And despite all of this, it’s just like my cable TV – 100 channels and nothing on. I guess some things never change.
Hmmm... I wondered if they were going to come back online. Very interesting. I have to say that I have made some good friends since joining this forum. I will keep posting and reading here.
I've re-registered, and flipped through the channels. Nothing there yet that I could contribute to. I think, for me, it's time to move on. Gee, I got a lot done this summer on the railraod, not to mention large household projects such as my anti-aviary--which keeps birds out of my gardens--and this curved, trellised walkway for Jeanne's planned wisterias. Not as much to read and respond to=more time to work. I especially like the quality of posts here.
I solved my problem. If you can't get past clicking the "Agree" button, when you have to sign-up. Try disableing your firewall. That was all I had to do. Cody
Darn, I hate it when I have to disable my firewall to participate in a forum. There are crazies out there, especially the ones who claim they can extract your IP address from a post to a forum.
you only need to disable it when you sign-up, then you can have it up when you are on the forum. Cody
Cody, So, if I have a network-expert hacker, who is sampling the output of my computer ports just waiting for the firewall to drop, I'm safe? Yeah, that's a little far-fetched, but hackers are getting more sophisticated every day.
