Carl actually that's a White road Commander not a Freightliner in the picture.

But has me curious as that W above the grill is the Western Star W.

Those old Chevron colors bring back memories though.

    Following with interest.

While waiting for orders to come in I decided to enlarge one of my 1/150 scale Tomytec fishing boats in my harbor' Took two boats and sectioned both then made one at 57 foot versus the 47 foot the normal ones are. Joined the remaining sections together to make a 35 foot charter fishing boat. The oe in front is the 57 footer while the middle one is a normal boat. The end one is the new charter boat.

Just a couple more things to do and the Frisco Ft Smith Depot will be done.

My first 3D printing projects: a template to hold LEDs while soldering and some searchlight signal targets and hoods.

Are these generic searchlights, or modeled after a specific road?
Are they resin or FDM printed? .STL file available? I need to to signal Crescent siding, and this is on the (admittedly long) list of projects to further detail the layout.

Your signaling project looks similar to some that I have been working on. Got those same or similar targets from Shapeways and am making poles and a support bracket from brass. After the LED is mounted on the support bracket, the target is attached with ACC. I just got the first two installed on the layout today.

These signals are where the actual layout ends and enters the helix. In this lower photo the signal on the left is an assembled Showcase Miniatures kit and is not lighted as it is facing away and would not be seen anyway. These are I think the most accurate and close to scale model signals available but them parts are tiny ! The one on the right is one I made. My pole is 1/16" brass tube which allow me to use magnet wire I can actually work with. My LED is a surface mount Red/Green that is again large enough for me to work with.

What LED model/part number did you use? That's useful info. I have seen the few signals on Thingiverse, but they seem too generic/toylike for my use. If I could get ahold of the Showcase kit, I might use it. I need enough material to do 6 signals of varying construction. I figured on just 3D printing a set to have the proper signal bases, heads and such. I'd need to do photo etched ladders/platforms. I don't expect any 3D printing method to render enough detail in something so finely detailed without being oversized too badly. I would also draw up some dragging equipment defect detectors, power switches and other ROW details.

Here is the specs on the LED's I am using. The Showcase kits make the best looking signals but I don't think this particular LED would fit without some modification to the model. The LED that Showcase sells is smaller yet and has those very fine hair like magnet wires.

It could be the chassis was Western Star and the cab was mac? because it's a specialized truck perhaps?

No it's a Road Comode aka White Road Commander as we called them yes I drove one not a bad truck at least the one I drove.

And the cab is not similar to the Mack's of the era.

Take the tank and fittings off other than the double frame it could pass as a long frame Western states truck by adding a fifth wheel to it.

    Getting closer.

Does anyone have a pair of BN logos for the cab side of this GP40-2.

    It would be much appreciated.

Six newly received Overton passenger cars that need paint, couplers, and decaling. And my NO-OX enough to last me a lifetime probably. The first use of the NO-OX is in the reassembly of a Bachmann 4-4-0 tender which had a motor replacement done. Going to treat the entire truck assembly with it ilcuding the metal piece that hold the half axle stubs that conduct electricity. This is an older tender that has not yet suffered Zmactitus to that assembly which locks the wheels up and stops the loco from running.

I apologize for posting and then heading out to MN North Shore for some vacay away from Crazytown. The signal is a generic mast similar to what I've seen on ex N&W (although N&W used CPL and I'm using searchlight). As a first pass I wanted a searchlight signal and was not too fussy about scale or prototype correctness. It's quite crude but it does perform the essential function. The LED is a Red/Green/Yellow part number SMTL4-SRGY from Digikey.

Now that I'm back I'll try mounting them using a dab of glue.

I made the model using eMachineShop and exported in 3D object format.

So they all arrived finally. Most of them didn’t come with clear sheet for the windows so I need to find something for that. In the areas I want fogged windows I can use scotch tape, but some windows I want clear. So now to find something to use... wish my kids were still into toys that come with clear windows... now they only want video games.

Evergreen Models makes clear styrene sheet similar to what comes with DPM building kits. Should be able to find at local hobby shop or on line.

yea I know but here the LHS is not considered essential... NOT ESSENTIAL TO WHO! It’s essential to me! Rob from Online Trains is open for online and EBay orders but I much prefer going into the store, it’s only a few miles away.

Now there's ten of these 3D printed FMC 4200s. I pulled 11 and 12 off the printer this morning, 13 and 14 will be done in a few hours. Well on the road to 25!
