    Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum, but not really to the hobby. My first trains were around the Christmas tree when I was a little kid, which evolved into a 4' x 8' layout through my teenage years up until other things became more exciting. I then built a 5' x 9' layout before my first kid was born and had to take it down when we moved (why do kids take up so much space?). Now that he's 6 years old, the CFO (wife) gave the approval to start a small layout so we can both have something to do.

What made me finally get login credentials is that I'm not too interested in spending hundreds of dollars on a DCC system, and have some limited experience with Arduinos. Those two factors have me very interested in DCC++ and TrainBoard is pretty much the best place on the web to get help and advice about the system.

I look forward to working with everyone here and hopefully learning more about every part of our great hobby.

    Okay, first question...

How do I change my display name!? I'm losing my mind, feel like it should be pretty simple and I'm just overlooking the option.

Welcome to TrainBoard. As a side note: When children are real small they do need a lot of room. This is because no matter how cute, the little tykes are "quick as rats". The extra room is for safety. When the erstwhile parent careens about the room to catch the little scudder, they don't need to crash into and tear up things and get injured. Also, more room is good when using a broom or mop. FYI. ;):D

Welcome to Trainboard. Good luck with your DCC++ project. I have got 2 running. Pretty easy to do now. What scale are you working in.

Welcome aboard. Did the bklyn stand for Brooklyn? I ask as an old time Dodger fan, back in Ebbetts Field.

It sure is! I was born and raised in Bath Beach, a small neighborhood between Bay Ridge and Bensonhurst. Moved to Ohio for college, met my wife who's from here, and here we stayed. Ain't that how it works.

Shoulda known it, a Bums fan. All I needed to know was 161st St station on the IRT. You guys required me to have a passport and visa to ride the BMT.

We had Berra, DiMaggio, Bauer, Rizzuto, and don't get me started on Whitey, Eddie, etc. You Wuz Da Bums.

Not withstanding, welcome to a fraternity of model railroaders where all biases, personal histories, and neighborhoods are ignored.
