SP 8560, after working as a lease unit for a while, ended up in Brazil, seen here in the livery of the América Latina Logística rail line:

It's quite remarkable to see how many lives certain locos (or parts of them, at least) can end up having.

Three random EMD SW's here. East Cooper & Berkeley 2002 is an SW-1001 at Knoxville, TN in January 1978. She's brand new and on her way from EMD to work near Charleston, SC. Terminal Alabama State Docks 682 is an SW-1500, seen in April 1984 at Mobile. It looks like they're trying to get sister unit 681 started. Lastly is West Virginia Northern 52, an SW-1200 at Tunnelton, WV in October 1995. She'll haul tourists for a few more years until the line is shut down and torn up.

WM 3798 was the last unit in Western Maryland paint operating on CSX. I saw it in Montgomery, AL on a Sunday night in November 1987 in poor light, so detoured past the engine terminal on my way to work the following morning and was rewarded. As seen in the bottom image, the same unit somehow found its way into my viewfinder 3-1/2 years later in Gaston, SC, renumbered to the 6573. It's hard to see it on the 6573, but someone stenciled "Last Western Maryland Locomotive" just ahead of the number on the side of the cab.

I am thinking there must be a span bolster under both ends of that Brazilian engine?

Aki, I've never saw 4710 before, and my backyard was hard against the CSX NO&M Division for 23 years.

Regards Brazilian Bigfoot, the original SD-40 was nicknamed "Little Kid With Big Tennis Shoes." But that Brazilian beasty puts that baby to shame. Thanks for a great photo.

After retiring from CSX, the 3798/6573 was rebuilt by National Railway Equipment and lives on as Indiana Southern 4041:
