Caught last Sunday in Columbia, SC was NS's IT Heritage Unit 1072. The HUs are all getting quite dirty. They're treated no differently than any other units it seems.
Trying to inject some variety into these posts, I spent some time searching my archives for something that wasn't a Pere Marquette Berkshire and came up with this. The Saginaw Valley Railway, which more or less sleeps in the same bed as the Huron and Eastern, had two of these little gems, numbered 998 and 999. The last time I saw 998, it was sitting at Wenona yard in Bay city with the hood removed. This one was assigned to the elevator at Marlette when I caught it in the summer of 2008.
