Thanks, Alan! That is just cool! Who knew the world was so small! Speaking of early and late (the last couple of shots were late evening), here's early morning. Near MP 499, CP Portal Sub, CP train 198 barrels east with hot stacks:
Some cars from 'N' roads, including a classic N&W peaked end hopper [Knoxville, TN 01/1979], a Northern Pacific boxcar [Montgomery, AL 08/1990] and a boxcar from the original Norfolk Southern [06/1988].
Two SOU cars, a 40' boxcar [Johnson City, TN - 04/1988] and a company waste oil tank car [Columbia, SC - 06/1994]. The stencils in the paint shop barely allowed the lettering to fit on that boxcar.
Two Western Railway of Alabama cars at Montgomery, AL, with a 3-bay hopper [04/1984] and a woodrack [11/1989]. The WofA, A&WP and GA were closely allied and all three roads are under the CSX banner today.
Hardcoaler, those shots are sweet! Please keep them coming! "Donnybrook 199" CP train 199, a Chicago-Vancouver intermodal, rolls past blooming canola just east of Donnybrook, ND on the CP Portal Sub.
Two WP cars here. The covered hopper was found 03/1985 at Montgomery, AL and the boxcar 08/1998 at Laurens, SC.
Two more 'W' roads, with a Western Maryland gon at Montgomery, AL [03/1988] and a Wabash covered hopper at Howells Interlocking in Atlanta, GA [01/1989].
Great photo, man those colors really pop! Hard for me to get used to seeing these kind of trains with just one unit on the HE, no matter how many are DP'd behind it.
