I don't believe so. The first production GP30 was Reading 5513.

Well, after a bit of searching around about my favorite diseasel, the venerable and stylish GP30, I finally figured it out.

The RDG recieved GP30 5503, 5513, 5514 and 5520 in Mar of 62. By frame number, the 5513 could very well be the first production unit. As well as SAL in Mar of 62, the 534.

I believe the confusion comes from UP recieving demonstrator 5629 in July of 61 and using it until Sep. At which time it was returned to EMD. The UP recieved it 1st batch, the 800-874 series in July to Oct of 62. (Displacing the 844 out of it's historic number into the 8444.) The UP 700 is a Feb of 63 product.

Now that was a java driven rabbit hole.......

An interesting pattern on this 'B' unit's side. Shows some inadequate paint prep work.

A lot of WP's F-Units in the 70's began to look like 920B. That would seem likely (or possibly a lesser quality paint or both).

Neat to see that GN dome sublettered for CB&Q and not relettered or numbered for BN into the Amtrak era.

The majority of the BN coaching stock never got BN lettering or numbers (at least physically)
