Welcome back everyone. The Friday thread was two pages which is something I love to see. It means we are ambitious to get some modeling done.

Saturday: Ah, Saturday! I had forgotten how nice it was not to work on Saturday. It was a rainy day so sleeping in seamed mandatory. I mainly milled around with the layout, enjoying a proper cup of tea and started planning out my home office. Later, Ang and I had dinner with her Dad at our favorite German restaurant.

Sunday: I got up at a more suitable time, got cleaned up and set out for the list of projects. Angela, who has been working from home since March, needed a proper desk. We were able to get the desk, office supplies and the lumbar I needed before noon. Once home, it was time to get the dreaded lawn done. I spent the rest of the afternoon getting things ready for my home office and called it a night. Other than run a switch job, my day was pretty busy with domestic chores.

So how about you? What did you accomplish this past weekend? Let us know. We'll do this all over again on Friday the 7th. Until then, have a great week, stay healthy, be safe and as always...

    High Greens!

Phase 1 of downtown Oxnard and Saticoy is complete - window treatments. Phase 2 - signage (I have got to figure out what most of the businesses will be)
    Phase 3 - roof details.

One down - SW8 4611 is ready to get to work
    The SW900 is being stubborn

After beating the lawn into submission Saturday AM, I worked on and off this weekend to get a new industry online - E'd Southern Food and Spirits:

Its a food and liquor distributing center built from parts in a Walther's Modern Concrete Warehouse kit. The "Ed" mentioned is a good friend, n scale modeler, and connoisseur of fine bourbon.

Well... didn't get what I wanted to do. Working in the train room about 11:00AM Saturday and heard.. "water dripping". Turned out the Mini Split heat pump/AC was leaking condensate. Took me most of the weekend to trace the block in line. I got it cleaned out yesterday AM and "crossing fingers", we're back in business.

In any event, I did some work on the passenger station, but I'm not happy with it. Don't like the ramps I put and may pull them out and redo them. In any event and despite "the best laid plans of mice and men", here's a shot of the wall ramps and 2 gates I put in.

I assembled a bulk pack of Microtrains 1015 couplers and mounted them in a dozen or so locomotives that still had Rapido couplers in my collection. I am kind of weird in that I find building up couplers to be relaxing when I am on a roll. Did not loose one spring.

Yikes, that doesn't sound like a fun weekend plan! Glad that you were able to sort it out and hopefully won't need to revisit it again in the future.

Good on ya!. I can't stand trying to put those things together - its just not a thing for me. You might want to think about making a video and posting it for others to see your technique.

Saturday: Didn't get much done on the layout but did do what I set out to do and that was work on the fascia. It had been cut, sanded and sitting for longer than I want to admit. Cleaned it up good and got it painted. That was a major accomplishment for me. I continued with my project of painting wheels on all my truck tractors that only had black rims. Just a few more to go and then it's on to trailers. That will be a lot. Then I put up a couple of display cases for locos. Still have to fill them. Then organized a bunch of tools and lawn stuff in our storage room.

Sunday: Trip to work on the parents house. Found a neat train wall hanging. Will post a pic whenever I get the layers of dust cleaned off it. Other than that. No treasures found. Maybe two more days work tops and will be ready to set up an estate sale. Maybe I can be done and have the house on the market by the end of the month. Fingers crossed.

Hope everyone has a great week.

I didn't end up spending much time in my studio over the weekend but I did manage to clear the area around my work desks a bit so my son can use one of them for school when it starts up in a couple weeks (this remote learning stuff can be a bit of a pain!). I still need to clear off the second desk which is going to be a pain since it is currently the "catch all" for random bits of stuff from the layout and electronic projects. Once it is cleared off I can move the reflow oven onto it and use it for SMD component storage.

I did get the PCBs order for ESP32 CS and 32-IO board and they should be shipped out later this week.

Finally got back to getting a little modeling in this weekend. I decided to try my hand at customizing an old undec Life Like F7 that I had in the drawer for years in early post merger livery. IMG_2259.jpg IMG_2258 (1).jpg The paint is a little too glossy, but I didn't have any dullcoat, so until I can get to the LHS it will have to do. I really struggled with the pin striping decals. Where they are located is over a row of "factory" rivet heads that are probably way overscale, which made setting them a chore. I finally gave up on the bottom rail and just tried my hand at painting it. It could be better but I'm happy with it for a first attempt. And it runs despite sitting in the box for years, which is the most important part.

This actually belongs here. I installed trucks and tru scale couplers on about 40 ore cars on Saturday. I set them up for a pic Sunday.

The motive power will be either USRA Mikado's or sets of EMD FT units. I have several (dozen) of each.

Accomplished what I noted in the Weekend Plans inquiry topic. Made some brass stirrups. Made a template and drilled holes, made a hand rail. Also ordered a detail part for an HOn30 caboose project. Then opened up a loading ramp/platform kit. Solved the world's model RR industry problems in a long and windy phone conversation with a fellow modeler. :)

Got a fair amount done. Had to do some back repairs on upgraded cars. The shifter is still in the shop. One boxcar is still in the shop. I had an idea for a running gear upgrade. Will test it on the boxcar. Wish me luck! The first of the new turnouts needs a repair and upgrade. The other six got the newer design after I put in number one. So off a-model railroading we will go! :)

I was hoping that some decals would arrive on Sat. but alas they did not. They did get here this morning though. I'll be busy this week with twenty cars.
A couple of car kits were assembled. Need weight and dull coating.
Got the workbench cleaned and organized by adding new shelving. Much better.
Cooked a bunch of food for the week including roasting a chicken. It will turn into burritos and enchiladas.

    See ya Friday.
    Enjoy the days.

I did not get as much done on the layout remake as I planned. I did change the couplers on the Mantua NYO&W 2-8-2 Camelback. Tender was easy. Just pop the old hook and horn and put a Kadee #148 back. The front of the loco was another story. The screw holding the hook and horn coupler was stripped. I had to cut the old coupler out. Since I do not plan to really use the coupler I trimmed an old Bachmann EZ-mate coupler and glued it in place.

I worked on renumbering a couple of Accurail Lehigh & New England wood truss boxcar. This is the first time I have tried to decal anything in quite some time. The Accurail renumbering decals have been a little problematic. I have a couple split in half. LAst time I used these type of decals I did not have any problems.

I did get to run some trains.

I did get another section of benchwork built right over the couch in the camper so I can have a nap while I am doing some wiring in the future. Ran out of material so I need to get to the hardware store to get some more to finish the benches. I do have 2 sections done approximately 32" wide and 15 feet long total so I may get started there while I am waiting to build more benches.

Did what I set out do. Worked on the module. Got a lot of scenery done. Ground foam, static grass, glued down some structure. Succeeded in melting a roof cap on a building. Should be an easy fix. Wanted to attach the blue point switch machine but realized I hadn’t done any soldering or feeder wires yet so it’s on hold for a bit. Instead I started painting and assembling N scale vehicles. Got a few done but have a lot to go. I think I might need some decals. Painted up a 1940’s school bus in Olive drab paint. Now I need army stars.
