    I’m getting back into model railroading in HO and am quickly learning how far my eyesight has tailed off over the years.
    Hats off to the older generation modelers here that model in N scale. You have my respect.

    +1 on the Optivisor. I'm to the point where I wear it even to paint my Unitrack.

    I've been doing some track,work for the first time in 5 years, and it's scary how bad my vision has become. Years ago my son joked that I should just make the jump to G scale as my eyes aged. I'm starting to think he was right.

    I too occasionally use an optivisor, but let me share something. Back in 1984, at the age of 44, I had ripe cataracts removed from both eyes and plastic lenses installed. I have 20/20 uncorrected in one eye and with slight correction 20/20 in the other eye. Vision is not a real issue.

    My real problem now, at 80, is my fingers/hands are not as supple as need be. But until they just flat will not work I will continue in N scale because this is what I love. My wife says I should switch to G Scale outdoors around the Koi pond. Just can't see me doing that.

    Before I started in N scale in 2006, I thought about a garden railway. The problem with that was my bad knees.
    Now I have new knees but a bad back. I'll do N as long as I can still solder the decoders and such.
