Just as an FYI, the Liner at IRM is undergoing complete restoration. The exterior was redone many years ago and still looks like it just came from the factory. All trucks and motors have been refurbished and work on the interior is proceeding. You can get more info at irm.org. For those of you who have never seen an IRM restoration, the artifact will look like new. They do intend operation but likely not this year, although I understand with the mechanical work it could be possible. The second Liner is at Orbisonia, PA and is operational albeit in SEPTA garb. I normally visit IRM in mid September but of course this year is completely in the toilet so with a heavy heart I will not go - and I will miss giving the Liner a loving pat.
IRM is a nice place. It's grown quite a lot since I first started going there in 1977. My hats off to the group !!
It sure is... Lyn and I had two visits in 2019; on the the first the bookshop was not open so we headed out at the weekend, only to have the visit curtailed after 50 minutes when there was a tornado warning, loud sirens, power outage, and running to the only brick building in the vicinity, the cafe entrance. it passed just 100 yards to the north. The power stayed off - so the bookshop, special exhibition [railroad crockery, an interest of Lyn's], and the trolley rides were all off. We had our cold lunch in the rain [the cafe had closed too] and then went back to the hotel wet and sadly disappointed. Next time when in Illinois..... Jim whereabouts is the Liner in Orbisonia? A fairly quick search did not reveal is location! Peter
Peter, I believe it's at the Rockhill Trolley Museum. It's a little south and across the tracks from the EBT depot opposite the roundhouse...quite visible on Google Maps...
These three were built as diners by Jewett. They were later sent to Cincinnati for rebuilding into coaches. 734,735,736.
Randy, I found the perfect brew for you to start your day. https://phoebesnowco.com/chicago-north-shore-milwaukee-electroliner-railroad-coffee/
I finished the 63. This is the last of the seven. Now, what project is next ? I apologize for the lack of trolley poles, I am out of them for now. I am taking suggestion on how to power the little locomotives. The most workable solution gets to pick a trolley car as a prize. Payable after the engines run !!
All, I forgot to include this Rail Line B . & L . E . RR and T Co . Aka B . & E. One needs to place both maps side beside to gain the full Map. The J . W. & NW . RR is Shown. Tom
