Good morning, good evening, wherever you may be. Welcome back everyone to a special, long weekend and unofficial end of summer. Lets see what everyone has planned.

Saturday: I actually get to start my weekend a bit early as I'm working half a day because I'm working Saturday. No, I'm not working at the dealership again. Let's just say it will be cool to see What's Neat this Week in Model Railroading ;-). I'm hopeful to get the last of the garage work done today so I can start my new module project on Saturday. I will work on that most of the day on Saturday before heading down to St. Louis for work later that night.

Sunday: My trip to St. Louis will have me out late with a return time of early Sunday morning so if the dogs let me, I'll sleep in. I then hope to make Ang and I some homemade biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Yes I'm a New Englander, but according to the locals, my biscuits and gravy are pretty darn good and it's my favorite breakfast. I'm considering taking a break and giving Ang and I a needed break from work, house work and yard work by taking her and the Mustang out to visit a friend and maybe, just maybe, sneak in a little railfanning.

Monday: This is the day I want to work on the B&M layout. I'm undecided as to spending the day putting up the other brackets in the room for the rest of the layout or to rip up all the old track. Logically, since I do not have all the track and a track plan nailed down yet, I should work on the brackets and the shadow boxes as this will allow me to properly finish my office / work area. We'll see.

So how about you? What do you have on you to-do lists for this long weekend? I'm sure it will be filled with other things besides trains but that's okay. Let us know. We'll assemble again here on Tuesday the 8th to see how we have all done. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    Happy Labor Day!

Looking forward to the long weekend!

Saturday, I have several non train related honey do’s. I also have a new mini concrete bird bath to set up and got hangers for a couple more bird houses. Once tha is done, I plan to try and get the propane tanker decaled and a clear coat applied.

Sunday, will be work on the layout. Need to adjust the scenic divide one more time, and then plenty to do with the chemical plant and grain elevator. Also have a new GHQ scrapper to start on.

Monday will be more of the same plus cooking some pork chops, hamburgers and sausages on the grill.

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend!!!

I hope to get all the Tortoise / Hare assemblies aligned and adjusted to throw Atlas turnouts on my Coal Dock module. For some reason I find automated DCC friendly turnouts are the hardest part of track laying. So today I have a full 95º day of yardwork to do, and Saturday is a full 100º day of Family BBQ grand kids running through the sprinklers, and our famous family water fight fun, then Sunday the temp drop to the low 90's and I will be recovering from Saturday, and Monday the cooldown drops to the low 80's where I will be doing the actual trackwork.

VERY special and long. I have taken off next week starting today, so I go back to the office on September 14. I have many things I want to do w/ that time, but this morning, I am piddling in the layout room and work shop trying to settle on a focus over that time. We'll see. I guess the REAL goal is not to let the opportunity go down the tubes by wasting the time.

    Happy Labor Day weekend all!

This is actually a normal weekend for me since I work Monday.

Plans are to work on the module and finish up odds and ends on it. I am so close to finishing it. Last night I started cuttting styrene for the last structure.

I have started a rebuild of one of the staging yards on my home layout so that will be the focus of my hobby time this weekend. Hope to get the ladder at one end finished including installation of 5 new MP5 turnout motors. Very hot weather is forecast here through Monday so if it's too hot to work in the train room I'll head inside the house and work on the graphics for the new staging yard control panel and some electrical drawings for the new control scheme.

Hope everyone stays safe and enjoys the weekend whatever you are doing.

It will be a normal work weekend for me. :( I do hope there will be a few minutes available to progress at the workbench, on a few small projects.

    Friday:
Oil change on the Subaru, NAPA for a spool of 18ga wire for track power.
Vaccum 1st floor, shampoo dinning room carpet, start dinner, vacuum living room. Move dining room furniture back in place. Serve the princess her evening meal . That wraps up the honey do list for today. In addition round up the neighbors bernese mountan dog that got loose.
After dinner, trains. Figure out final track and building configuration for coal dealer spur. Then I have to make the final decision on shifting mill area switch, lead and tracks over four inches.

    Saturday:
Hot knife trenches into foam for track power to mill area and lumber & coal dealer spur.
    Feed and walk dogs.
Start on Honey Do stuff. Shampoo living room rugs, vacuum & dust foyer. Clean off back porch, mow and trim. Pull any weeds around house that are taller than me. Clean out junk I've stored in kitchen fire place.
Check worm bins and feed worms.
    Vaccum 2nd floor.

After dinner; Cut wire for mill and coal dealer area. Swap out old beat up rail joiners and solder feeds to joiners as needed. Run feeds. Final installation of tracks at mill area and lumber & cooler dealer.

    Sunday;
Sister coming for lunch so we will be cleaning all morning even though my sister is only supposed to enter house to use bathroom just inside kitchen door.
Sunday night. Fix a couple pieces of track with excessive rail gaps. Start hooking up temp jumpers to power and start testing track a section at a time.

    MONDAY
Land feed leads on temp Atlas Selector "control panel". CROSS FINGERS, first run locomotive around all track. If satisfactory have a celebratory beverage!

Here is the latest effort. Our new shifter, "Lil' Steamy", #45. He is shown hard at work at the Murphysboro freight house. New for this model are: a reinforced frame, a bell, stronger running boards, cab roof hatch, front number plate (no number visible), cross head guides, better pilot and a more prototypical look (I think). What a learning process! The old drawbar was used and unfortunately gave us quite a gap between engine and tender. Looks like "Hoppy" the fireman has his work cut out for him.:D All have a safe and fun Labor Day! TrainBoard Shifter Rebuild 9-2-20.jpg

If the modeling gods are good to me, I will get done a bunch of weathering on or near the workbench. I am working on the following cars:

    · Athearn Burlington Express 40 Ft steel reefer
    · Athearn Pluto Water 40 ft wood reefer
    · Athearn Baltz Old Heidelberg 40 ft reefer
    · MDC/Roundhouse Union Pacific 36 ft wood reefer
    · Walthers Swift 40 ft wood reefer
    · Walthers Borden 40 ft wood reefer
    · Walthers BAR (State of Maine) 40 ft steel reefer
    · 2 – Accurail CNJ 40 ft wood reefers – I renumbered one of them
    · MDC/Roundhouse Missouri Pacific 50 ft wood express reefer
    · MDC/Roundhouse KATY 50 ft wood express reefer
    · 4 – Bev-Bel/Roundhouse PRR 50 ft express reefers (8 car Bev-Bel set. One car is done)

If time permits, I have another bunch of kits to build and weather

    · 3 – Bev-Bel/Roundhouse PRR 50 ft express reefers (last 3 of set)
    · Walthers Lackawanna 40 ft wood reefer
    · Atheran General American Refrigerator Express 50 ft express reefer
    · Athearn CN 40 ft steel reefer
    · MDC/Roundhouse Lehigh Valley 36 ft wood reefer

When I finish these this will complete all the reefers from the Wall of Trains (as my son calls the pile of trains on the workbench). There are two MDC/Roundhouse kits that are either missing or have broken parts. Basically, I need two sets of express reefer trucks for them.

However, there are two reefers; another MDC/Roundhouse Lehigh Valley 36 ft wood reefer and a Chateau Martin Wines 50 ft express wood reefer in the mail. Cursed Ebay. It appears I may have a reefer problem.

I also have a Con-Cor P54 combine I decaled for Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Lines to reassemble.
