Could this have been on the portion where they had trackage rights via Conrail? I know that Sheff was an NYC train order office at one time.
I found it on the map and checked it out. Sheff (I misspelled it in my post) was indeed a NYC/Big Four crossing, so you're correct.

From March 1993, CSX 464 rolls through Cassatt, SC on the former SAL main. I liked the SCL sign on the bridge and wanted to work it into the picture.
Its a mainline. First it crosses the BNSF Aurora Sub at grade(diamond) after crossing the Mississippi River Bridge then enters a tunnel to make its turn to join the BNSF at grade at East Cabin. They will travel for about 15 miles to CP Portage(Galena) then make the left turn off of the Aurora Sub and back onto home rails for the trip to Chicago. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No , No dynamics. The raised area around the stacks appears to be extra space for the carbon traps. These engines are well known for starting ROW fires from carbon chunks. I did a bunch of electrical work on the engine, next time I see it I'll investigate further. Randy
As I recall, then this is ex-CB&Q territory. Somewhere in that same vicinity, the CGW once traveled as well?
