Tom, No! It wouldn't be worth that unless it was solid brass or silver plated. Perhaps that would be questionable. With the regard to the advertised motor on E-pay. The engine we've been talking about, it's another case of mistaken identity and actual market value. A reality check is needed. Sadly, some fool will pay the price and think he or she has the crown jewels.

And what amazes me is that when members here take the time to kindly write a Seller with a correction, some Sellers get angry and deny a problem exists!
I've seen the same problem at yard sales, online sales of all kinds, and in several hobbies (and I'm sure just about everything else), but most often it's because people have either purchased or inherited a bunch of stuff and all that they know about it is that it's old. They don't have a use for it, and don't know what to do with it, so they think they're going to get rich selling it. That's why they use words like "antique, unique, vintage, rare, valuable, etc." and they don't want to be told that all that they have is old crap. In model rocketry, many people collect old *kits* but novices look up values of kits online and try to sell built models for the same price because they don't know that while there is a demand (among collectors) for old kits, the demand for someone's already built model is poor to nonexistent. On the other hand, none of us would complain if we found an eBay listing of something that we REALLY wanted for a fraction of its value because the seller didn't know what they had. There are a few folks who would tell the seller that the thing he/she has listed for ten bucks is worth $200... but not many, I'm afraid.
When I was a teen, I stopped at a yard sale and saw the host connecting a Lionel transformer to a Tyco HO train. I explained to him that he was about to supply AC power to a DC train. He glared at me, surely thinking that I was a know-nothing nosy kid. He put the juice to the Tyco and a nice curl of smoke soon arose from within. He watched and said nothing. I moved on.

" I've messaged a few folks who had incorrect brand in the title. For example, a Concor Superliner was listed as a Walthers Superliner. I kindly told the Lister of the facts and suggested a buyer could claim "not as advertise" and the seller would have a legit problem. In all cases they thanked me and corrected the description. The Concor cars are worth less than the Walthers as well. Another Lister showed a picture of an Athearn Rio Grande caboose in an Overland brass caboose box and a brass price. I messaged the guy what I saw. He had a 100% good rating and was thankful I caught the error as it would most definitely had caused a problem if it had been left as listed!
Years ago before I switched to the dark side , I was a N scaler and a guy had a HO bachmann F units listed as N scale when I sent a nice message informing him his phoptos were HO scale he was arrogant and said he knew they are N. They had hook horn couplers among the many other HO identifying details. Months! latter still listed wrong.
Here is another one, mostly based on the item condition: "In good condition" and "actually the unit is excellent condition except for the issues." The massive BURN HOLE in the roof is kind of hard to ignore as a minor cosmetic issue. I guess if you ignore that, the rest of the set seems fine, but that is honestly a deal breaker for the 'excellent' category.
