The damage to the Talent OR area has resulted in the loss of several MicroTrainsLine employees' homes. While the factory was spared, and the company will recover, these employees are experiencing serious loss. MTL has been a champion of N Scale and a stalwart supplier, and these employees have worked hard to provide supplies for our hobby. If you are of a mind to give back to support these unfortunate folk, NSE member Ken Yohe has set up a GoFundMe page to benefit these employees. go here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/micro-trains-line-fire-fund?utm_medium=social&utm_source=fbmessenger&utm_campaign=p_na%20share-sheet&rcid=802f63dd88864983b8a23117362e3878&fbclid=IwAR3quMJPMBhLR39PMeEefDoQUdmuyvFFmfvCo5amExG3MLddnzT7Um9BuZo No obligation, but if you feel like helping, I'm sure it will be appreciated.
And while the West burns the East is getting flooded. We had 21.5 inches of rain last month of which I would gladly give some of it say about half to them. So far this month we have had 6.5 inches already of which I will gladly give all of it to them.
Okay folks. I know you are trying to add a little levity during this time of serious bad news. But lets keep the politics out of it or we will have to lock the thread.
The “political levity” posts have been removed in an effort to keep this thread within the rules. This topic impacts a major part of the MR community, and we ask everyone to please not force more drastic action.
Yeah, Joe at MTL has posted lots of videos and photos of the damage on Facebook, and it looks like a war zone. Many of the residents lost their homes, vehicles, and places of employment, and worse yet, the death toll is up to 15. This is a horrible situation, and it's going on in all the western states. Last month my girlfriend's brother's home burnt to the ground in Santa Cruz, and my sister in Milpitas was evacuated for 2 days but they were able to save her neighborhood, and the skies in my neighborhood are smoky and yellow from all the fallout. I have seen the orangest moons and redest sunsets that I have ever seen. If ever there has been a year that resembled the beginning of the apocalypse, this is it. All we need now is some crazy geneticist to release his meat eating "Locusts with the Sting of a Scorpion" and I'll call it the fifth seal.
My deepest sympathy and prayers to all of the MTL family. I put a few 'schekels' towards the fund... but it just seems as these folks will need a lot more relief. When I consider how hard they work to give us quality N & Z scale model trains... they are all worth far more than the current total. Sent from my SM-J737T using Tapatalk
George, I went to the GoFundMe site to make a donation but it was so confusing that I was rejected. What do I need to do to make it User Friendly? Thanks, Hank

What's so bad is these poor people had to leave on such a short notice and most have lost most everything and it will take them years to recover. A lady at my church said she has a daughter and family who live in the area of these fires who had to evacuate and they spent last night sleeping on a flatbed trailer. We were able to donate to a disaster relief fund through our church to help meet immediate needs of those displaced. But if dealing with the Covid 19 wasn't bad enough, now just having to find the basic daily needs and medications plus finding a place to stay and work until the rebuilding can start is difficult to think about. God bless those who can go on site to help them, especially those who are fighting fires and having to deal with being away from their families who are going through this. Ralph
