Welcome back everyone. I hope you you are having a good week, and for those who celebrate, Happy Last Day of Hanukkah. Let's get this thread started! Saturday: I will be spending most of the day getting some last minute shopping done for the upcoming Christmas Holiday. Anything after that will be spent in the work shop but I'll be working on the assembly of a Tamiya RC car for my Father-in-Law. Ang and I found that Tamiya makes a great 1/10th scale 1995 Cobra GT which is the exact year of his. We figured this would be a great gift as he loves that car. I also got him an Athearn HO Ford Motor Parts box truck for his Ford collection. Sunday: Not sure yet. We should have everything up and ready for Christmas, I'll probably be busy wrapping all that I purchased the day before. I have spent a lot of time working on looking for suitable track plans for the N scale layout and I'm getting closer. Any time left over will probably be spent working on the research for that. So how about you? What do you have planned for this last weekend before Christmas? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 21st, AKA, the first day of winter and see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, stay healthy, stay safe and as always... HAPPY HANUKKAH! & High Greens!
Ho Ho Ho! Should be a good weekend. I need to some gift wrapping other than that I hope to get another structure built. I also need to visit the LHS. Unfortunately I may need to spring for the latest Walthers catalog. I need figures for the Free-moN loop. Not finding what I want as of yet. One structure has large windows and I need to add some figures for an interior. This should get me through Sunday. Started to paint a pike stuff kit. I’m thinking I might need some primer for this one.
Like Jim, I see some "shopping" in my future. I'll bravely go out and try to score a few things without trying to worry about Amazon or someone else being able to ship to me by Thursday. But to the matter at hand, there will be train activity in the stars. I am taking off 2 full weeks so I don't lose vacation as the year closes. There will be things I do progress this weekend, but hopefully I will be advancing stuff I can take on over the next 2 weeks. Not sure what specifically happens, but I plan on working on: Caboose for the Atlantic and Danville The HW Meyers diorama Hooking up some more signals Mock up for the block signaling detection Advance some scenery Everyone stay safe and have a great weekend and Christmas Holiday season.
Current plans for the weekend is to modify my current track plan (pics at bottom) to eliminate the top peninsula (too cramped by my desk, a few mock up photos in the previous link) and scrap the idea of the third deck. I'm currently working on redrawing the main deck and hope to have it completed by sometime tomorrow so I can start laying out the footprint and check elevations etc again. Saturday I'll be pushing the table saw outside so I can cut a couple dozen pieces of wood for the double track helix from staging to the main deck. Once I have the wood cut I'll start the process of gluing them together into half rounds (check the album linked above for how the helix is built). Sunday will be tearing apart and rebuilding my Ender 3 Pro which is out of alignment (frame is not square to the table, X axis gantry has a bit of play) and to add a few upgrades (metal feeder, new bowden tube, BLTouch, glass printing bed, new leveling springs/knobs). Once reassembled and bed leveled I'll start the printing process of a few printed upgrades: spool holder, Z axis spacer, Z axis knob, V-Slot covers. I'm considering a combined box for a rPi 3B+ and the main board for the printer itself but that will take 2+ days to print (each half of the box is 23-24hr print!)
Tonight I will be bowling, and I hope to paint the second color on a Covered Hopper, a GP35 and a Proto 2000 Gon along with decaling a 40' boxcar and the covered hopper I am painting above. Will start work assembling another covered hopper and a 40' boxcar kit. Received my invoice from Moloco for the new PC&F RBL's that I preordered, I then added one of the FGE cars so I could get free shipping, should be receiving my Greenville 86' Boxcars soon. Need to wrap my wife's gifts if they ever arrive, I have 8 packages in transit via the USPS and some of them have been in transit for 3 weeks with no confirmed delivery date and they have not been scanned again for weeks. Tomorrow starts a week off for me. I have to give my Silverado some TLC - oil change and a wash. Then it is play it by ear I hope to get the track laid down on my track re-location project So - report on Monday Y'all have a fantastic weekend, Wolf
The Zoom meeting with the Ntrak club was yesterday and was great fun. The setup I made last weekend to hold my ipad worked out really well. This weekend I will be continuing the work on the scenery in the Palisade Ranch area of my layout. I am almost out of plaster cloth and have more on the way. Will get started laying the track on the lift bridge. Everyone stay safe and enjoy the Christmas Holiday.
Ordered some freight car detail parts yesterday. Unfortunately they will not be here for a while, with the Holiday mails and so on... I will find something else to do! Plenty of projects await.
Well, the head gear part on my son's gaming headphones so tonight I will have them on my workbench to see what I can do with them. Biggest tragedy since the Titanic went down Saturday morning is some last minute shopping and hopefully a trip to either my not even close to LHS or if no time, a place that is close that has styrene strips and shapes. Then if I get home it time, a little work in the layout room. If I find the styrene I need, Sunday will be split between working on a grain elevator and getting presents wrapped. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!!
I did some more work on the Mogul due to the drawbar needing lengthening and a drawbar problem after the first problem. Right now the Mogul is happily at work on the module. This general extra work has delayed caboose construction but we will start on that soon. All be safe and have extra fun.
Well, its friday again -- This weekend the plan is to try to get the rest of the track that I have on hand laid -- it wont finish the main loop of the layout, but that way when I get back to work (hopefully sooner rather than later) I can buy up some more and keep on moving -- once I get that done, I am planning to start the grain elevator -- at least getting it roughed together so that the practice trains that run will have a place to go and something to do -- depending on time and how I'm feeling I might try to build some sort of a pocket to hold the throttle (NCE PowerCab) and dry to figure out a way to keep the cord out from under foot TIM
Just starting Christmas vacation at our office. Off until the 4th, so plenty of time to do modeling projects. Planning on messing around with my static grass thingamabob again. There are some vacant lots clamoring for some scruffy vegetation. Scruffy being the operative word.
I just survived my first semester at college, so it's time to get out all the trains. I might start a project or two, I haven't built anything since the summer.
We have not planned anything. With the way things are with the virus I can say going out is not an option. Since there are household members who are high risk only essential trips will be made. Probably do a few household things. Modeling-wise, run some trains, photograph the stuff I recently finished. I have a good amount of information to add to the new database. I might weather the six Bowser NYO&W hoppers and/or some cabooses; Western Maryland, two Chessie System.
Need more foam for the mountain. Hopefully the last bit of spackling the incline to level out the roadbed. Still no incidents, derail or uncouple-wise. Even the ACS-64 is behaving. Got some new UP rolling stock with a surprise. Lights! Not sure if I want lighted cars yet. Was hoping to get the pair of new BLI UP E8s tied with my lone Kato E8 to pull a huge UP consist or two. (Unfortunately the A unit needs to go back to BLI - will wait until late January to do it. Make sure it gets there.) Run more trains. Sent from my SM-T837A using Tapatalk
