Headed North out of Roseville towards Lincoln on the former East Valley line Now just the valley sub.. Headed towards Redding and Oregon? Or Oroville, Portola and Reno on the WP? Of that I'm not sure. 3 GE's 3 different roof lines. Though the AC6000 is just an AC4400 under the skin.
N&W 611 departs Attalla, AL for Chattanooga on the SOU main. It's a beautiful 04/01/1989 morning and she's on her first fantrip of the season.
Temple Meads train station in Bristol, UK. Early morning before the rush. A string of well maintained old British Rail Mk1 coaches ready for excursion service.
Back to Durand Railroad Days 1996 this week. 1225 has just arrived in Durand as has a Central Michigan freight, another example of time marching on. Central Michigan Railway became part of Huron and Eastern in 2004 and the U-boats began to disappear a few years later. The trailing unit, 8904, was photographed in the dead line at Midwest Locomotive Services in December of 2009. The lead unit, 8905, was eventually patched out for HESR and left the property sometime around 2013.
From my visit back on July 19th, 2008, 50-ton two-truck Shay #3 at the National Museum of Science and Technology, Ottawa, Canada: Nice beastie.
SP 7677 in Grand Junction CO 1995-1999ish. I sure wish I had marked the prints, when I took these photos. But glad I took them LOL.
Ken, that's a cute little critter. Be neat to have been puttering around a yard all day. What was the contact wire voltage? There's not much room for relay racks, maybe transformers and rectifiers. Then you need a stool for the motorman and his controls. Looks like there also has to be an interior walkway from the rear platform to the control station up front.
It seemed like SD70ACe day on the NS Harrisburg Line this morning. 294 and 10K both were led by EMD's.
A block of hot UPS pigs over Gassman Coulee: The eastbound Northgate Local at around MP10, BNSF Crosby Sub:
Thanks. Guess it would need only a relay rack being DC. Though it/they wouldn't be small considering the current.
Also what came to mind were the NYC Triple Power motors working the High Line and piers in lower Manhattan. They had three sources of power; 600 VDC third rail, batteries, and a diesel dynamo charging the batteries. The battery power replaced steam for street running onto the Hudson River piers.
