Welcome everyone to that gateway to the weekend. It's finally April and spring is warming up. Let's see what we are planning on doing this weekend. Friday: It's my annual Good Friday, Great Railfanning day with my buddy Brian. As always we will be railfanning the BNSF Transcon from Toluca to Galesburg. Looking forward to it! Saturday: I'm hoping to work on a project for work. Lets hope it warms up. Sunday: Nothing planned as it is Easter Sunday and will probably enjoy a bit of family time. So how about you? What do you have planned for the weekend? Let us know. We'll come back on Monday the 5th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always... High Greens! & HAPPY EASTER!
Not much structure to my days this weekend, but I do have several small projects I want to tackle. 1. Add a "catch" trough to the front of my workspace. Hope to keep more parts from finding the floor. 2. Insulate the pilot wheelset on the Mikado. I made a shortened pilot truck out of brass and need a little extra separation for safety. 3. Make a boiler drawing. Nothing fancy, just enough to guide the basic shape in relation to the drivers & frame. 4. BONUS PROJECT: Make the boiler drawing in CorelDRAW. Been practicing, but this might be more distraction than accomplishment. With some family time and domestic chores that small list would make me happy. If things go really well, these are the next items in order. Assemble two quad T-trak module frames. Square-up the lathe and mill for future action. Make some screwdriver and knife holders for the workspace. Turn the basic boiler. Add some "runoff" channels to the Mikado's tender. Odd detail from the prototype. I will share pics when those are applied. Stay safe,
I hit Galesburg last week and saw lots of great stuff, including two SD60M Triclops. Some of the university guys met up with one of our alums (new BNSF employee stationed there), so he gave us the inside scoop. You won't be disappointed. Obviously its nothing new if you've been there before, but it was my first time there, and it was just as busy and exciting as the BNSF Racetrack in Chicago. My modeling has been non-existent since the semester started, but I might be headed home for the weekend for a bit of a break. That means I might hit up the hobby shop, who knows. The school took away our spring break because they didn't want people going on vacation and catching coronavirus and bringing it back to campus, which means we have 16 straight weeks of classes. I'm happy to get at least one or two days off, even if train time will be comparatively small.
Due to it being Easter weekend, I have no plans for MRRing this weekend. If I do any MRRIng - it will be minimal. (I at least want to test my 4-10-2) Y'all have a great Easter weekend!! Wolf
Work on the modules continues. After yesterday’s shopping spree I now almost have enough supplies to finish the loop and the 6’ branch. I still need some tunnel portals and I won’t be able to get those until Monday. So Friday- I will be building a grain elevator Saturday not much Sunday- I hope to get the start of the 6’ module going some work done on the loop. Monday- it’s off to an LHS and track laying Tuesday- more of the same
Hi Guys -- Happy Easter This weekends plans: I bought a replacement switch controller for the atlas switch at the east entrance to the Arrival departure tracks so that HOPEFULLY will be a short project wiring that up, as well, I need to finish the connections for the west end of the AD tracks and the interchange yard. I also need to get drops in place and a sub buss pulled for the AD tracks and see how my new Peco Switch works -- ive never used an electrofrog switch before so we'll see what happens Friday - Good friday service this evening Saturday - Prayer breakfast with some friends Sunday - Easter services and My brother and sister in law are coming up (WHOOO HOOO) Monday - Hopefully train and drawing time Have a blessed weekend yall
Good Friday or not have bowling tonight, hope it is better than last week! Over the weekend I would like to complete the Arrowhead H39 Hopper kit, along with a Branchline kit for a NYC Boxcar in Jade Green, also need to finish masking a NYC Caboose to paint the roof black, then gloss coat and decal it along with finishing the decals on a GP35. Not much of a railfan anymore, everything looks the same and I can;t stand the graffiti on all the equipment. Rick Jesionowski
Modeling for this weekend Decal the 5 N&W cars I painted last weekend Put away scenery stuff I have on the layout benchwork (get it out of the way) that will be covered up w/ the coal branch. Put down ballast over the track that will be below the coal branch. This will probably take more than this weekend to finish. I was going to do this a month ago or so, but never got to finish it. I will use scrap ballast down the center of the track. Nothing to do w/ scenery, just use it as belt AND suspenders to secure track that will be hidden. Should be able to do most of this given I am off today and actually started some of this stuff 2 hours ago. Happy and blessed Easter to each of you!
More of the same as last weekend - continue work on my flat cars and military equipment train. The weather has gotten really nice here and outside work is now taking up much of my time. Baseball season has started and I am looking forward to listening to some games while in my train room or while sitting on the deck with a cold drink. Hope you all enjoy the weekend whatever you are doing.
This is a crazy weekend. My birthday is Saturday. I am not sure what we are doing. Usually, it is dinner and cake. This time my daughter has to drive to Scranton to get her second dose of the vaccine. She will be gone most of the day. Of course, Sunday is Easter which means I will be in the kitchen a good part of the day as I am the cook. Hopefully my daughter will be able to help some as she usually does but we will see if there are any side effects. If time allows, I would like to work on the Engine House. I may work some on the yard since some #6 switches were delivered today. I am still waiting on a few more switches and wyes.
Happy Good Friday and Happy Easter to all! Happy Birthday Tom! No modeling on the agenda for the weekend as of now. Hopefully some free time will present itself but you never know. Going to be a little cool here for early April but at least no rain. Too cold to paint which is what I need to do to get some projects moving anyway. Have a great weekend everyone!
Perhaps due to the holiday you could bowl "religiously"? Also, graffiti....yep...right there with ya'.
On here later than usual due to chores. Not much accomplished other than just barely starting a diagram for the structure. I was going to do a program to help with procrastination, but I put it off... Happy Easter and a Happy Birthday to Tom.
My weekend plans are shot to pieces. Yestetday I woke up late and recieved my 2nd Pfizer vaccination. Like an idiot I was dehydrated and had not eaten. I only slept a couple hours last night. Today I feel like I got hit by an LVRR Wyoming. My whole body aches, Ive got the chills, my face is windburned from up north and I can't get enough fluids down. I plan on working on the granary a little and putting together a better small traveling tool kit. I need to clean off the workbench store the layout for a week or so and work on a few project's for other hobbies. Have a Good One! Happy Easter and Passover!
Logging Loco, Know how you feel! Describes my second shot exactly. After 24 hours I took an anti-inflammatory. Felt great the next day. Hope you’re better soon. Stay safe, Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks Mark. My bench has a catch/findings tray. It's a wood frame with a linen tray. Not my bench but tray is like this one, third and fifth images. The scalloped front edge matches my front profile. https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/s...chmakers-work-bench-jh-rosberg/id-f_11978001/ Here is a link to some diy ideas. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.instructables.com/Catch-Trays-for-the-Studio/?amp_page=true Thanks again, John
I posted a quick note in the Passenger part of Ready Track. I'm going to complete those flatcar decks this weekend. In Portland I bought a tank car and a WP boxcar to play with. Also kinda' maybe a GN 4-6-0, not WP, but I like the way it looks. Everybody enjoy the wknd, Stay Safe all. Bobby.
Nothing specific planned here. Just puttering with a couple tiny projects. Installing couplers on another car.
Trying to do the best I can with a 3D house a friend printed for me months ago. It looks really good. But some parts where so tiny for his 3D printer they did not print correctly. But hey, he did it for FREE! Going to do the best I can, and go and get some Black spray paint for the Roofs tomorrow! Thanks to him for printing it for me. I may pile up some of the pieces if if it is still under construction Have to glue what I can after I get the paint the way I want it. He is also going to print the missing roof section on the back of the house!
