Hello everyone. HO scale modeler, of modern era scenes with mostly passenger, rapid transit, and some freight rolling stock. Joining to share some pictures and videos of my layout.

I've been a fan of model railroads since I got my first set for Christmas in the mid-80s (still have the locomotive and cars, though the loco needs help). Years ago when I was looking to buy a house the question "what does the basement look like" was always on my mind. Shortly after moving to my newly purchased home I started building a 6'x12' table with bridges and "tunnels" coming off to sections of the layout that ran along the walls. Scenery and details were on the backburner as I just wanted to lay the track and get trains up and running. Shortly after, my children were born and the layout was neglected for a time for obvious reasons. But a few years ago, with the kids older and starting to show interest in it, I restarted my efforts on my railroad empire.

Last May I bought a 3D printer and it was a game changer. I've been designing items on the laptop and printing them out. Sometimes it involved some trial and error but it's working for many of my ideas. I've deconstructed my 6'x12' table (the downtown area) to completely overhaul my subway system that runs under the edge of the top of the table. I'm currently focusing on this portion of the layout. After I'm satisfied with area, I will be working on the surface level of downtown which includes several buildings, two streetcar lines and the mainline tracks for commuter and freight trains.

The subway system is influenced by the Washington DC Metro. I've always liked the look of their stations ever since I rode on their trains while visiting DC as a kid in the 80's & 90's. I'll probably start a thread in the other section detailing my layout's subway origins and progress. I've started a website and a YouTube channel to display images and videos. Below is the first subway station to be completely finished using the 3D printed elements. The lighting came with the recent upgrade as did the (non-functioning) third rail.

Welcome aboard pleasure to meet a fellow ho scale model railroader. I don't currently have a layout set up but when I get around to building one I'll be modeling the Delaware & Hudson ( D & H ) from roughly 1950 till it's acquisition by Canadian Pacific ( CP ) in the early 1990s focussing primarily on prototypical operations. Am looking forward to seeing your progress and possibly chatting with you in the forums or PM's
