    I purchased one and put it in my Kato SD70M.

    I have laptop with JMRI installed connected to an Arduino Mega w/Arduino Motor shield with DCC++EX, Track power is 12v 2.3A.

    When I open JMRI Decoder pro to program the Loco I request it to find the Decoder and the loco moves on the track 2 time and then comes back with a 308 error reading CV.

    I can run the loco on the main using default 3 on the throttle.

    Thoughts on why JMRI is not reading the decoder in decoder pro? I can manually assign the decoder (need to try that today).

    There's a few threads that have a similar issue to this, one post said the following;

    common causes are dirty wheels, a too low power supply, using a sound decoder [which draws more], or hooked up to the wrong pair .

    Did you use a programming track or the main? I had issues reading from the main with the lower voltage (My power supply was 12v but I was only getting about 11.5 on the main) but everything works perfectly on the programming track I made.

    Another issue is within the DCC code itself, here's a useful PDF from someone who had a 308 issue but solved it using this method.

    LOL Sumner, Yes, that was for an HO Bachmann Loco I have. this is for a Kato N Scale SD70M with a newly installed TCS K1D4 decoder.

    I PM's KC directly asking for his help.

    It seems apparent that I'm bad at only reading content and not who posted it :(.

    I thought you were cleverly explaining that it was very close to the same question...

    One difference is that with JMRI, you can still obtain the DCC++EX diagnostics by opening the JMRI boxes (1) Send DCC Command, and (2) DCC Traffic Monitor. Check the boxes... Enter the same commands you would enter via the Arduino serial monitor.

    This is what I got when I had not plugged in my power supply...

    The startup info can also be useful. Use the command: D RESET

    The file below has some further diags, showing the difference between a read and a verify.
