    is dcc worth the milling in some n scale licomotives? is it worth taking off the extra weight? i mean by this is i have a alco pa unit made by liflike and there is no room for a decoder, except in the b unit. :confused:

    well....... if the unit has a light board, and digitrax makes a plug and play decoder board for it, then you will not have to take off any weight at all....... the decoder is made on the light electronic board, and u just have to losen up the chassy to slide the decoder in...... very simple very easy..... the only problem is that digitrax doesn't always have decoders for all engines....... life like GP20's and Sw9's don't have boards to my knoledge.......... well best of luck.....     Go to www.aztectrains.com and check on having them mill a frame for installing a decoder. I have had them do several of my engines, and found out that it is a whole lot easier to let AZTEC do the machine work. Also go the Digitrax website, www.digitrax.com and check their decoder list , it will tell you also where else to get frames milled for decoders.
    I have a mixture of LENZ and DIGITRAX decoders in the INDIANA RAILWAY'S motive power, and find that the two different decoders work well together.
