Greetings everyone to a very special long weekend for those of us in the States. Seams hard to believe, but we are in the middle of summer and 2021 is half over. Where does the time go? We'll lets get started!

Saturday: Our annual 4th of July celebration kicks off tomorrow afternoon so prep work is being done for that in the morning. A BBQ and music with pyrotechnics will follow.

Sunday: We head out east to help my Dad.

Monday: Not sure, we will be tired after our trip. We will probably take it easy and visit with Dad.

So how about you? What do you have planned? Let us know! We'll assemble again on Tuesday the 6th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and for us Americans...

    HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!

Good morning from partly sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

My better half is off two New Jersey with her sisters to visit with our cousin in Philadelphia this weekend, so I am at home working on some railroad stuff.

I hope to finish an Intermountain PS 5277 Boxcar Kit and start on another R70 Mechanical Reefer Kit. Also will be doing a Covered Hopper Kit, but do not know which one I will start on next.

I will be painting a depressed center flat car then start decaling it and a tank car that I painted this week, I also plan to decal some 40' Trailers for a TOFC train.

    so many choices . . .
    • The lawn will need mowed. I may put this off until Monday (I'm off as an in lieu of observance since the 4th is Sunday).
    • I finished cleaning and reassembling the carb on the motor for my canoes and it needs an on water test.
    • I have a salt elevator to detail and install.
    • I have scenery to work up.
    • I have about 40 rollingstock projects I can choose from.
    So yeah, lots to do.

    Travel safe @Jim Wiggin

Well - it's been a bummer of a week. My truck was taken to the dealer - dropped #1 cylinder's lifters. One completely the other partially. Hopefully the cam was not damaged. She's a 2014 Silverado 1500 5.3L with 27,250 miles. Apparently this is a fairly common occurrence with these AFM engines. So, I will be purchasing a Range AFM disabling device. Going V8 100% of the time. No more V4 mode. Hard lesson learned. And - of course my warranty had run out a couple of years ago. My wallet is going to hurt - bad!!

So - back to my modeling plans.

All I have planned is to complete my latest F7 project. SP Df-4 class. Perhaps start on the next one - SP DF-6 class (I had already completed a DF-5 class A-B-B-A set)

And - of course celebrate our great nation's birthday!!

Y'all have a great 4th weekend - stay safe and sane!!

Sorry to hear about your truck Wolf. I have a 2017 with the same engine. It's been perfect so far with 19,000 miles. I'll just have to hope for the best.

My recent efforts with the electronic die cutting machine have been interesting but oddly, the jury is still out on the effectiveness of using this method. I may experiment some more. As for now the hotel needs the back wall, roof and exterior parts. Am committed to continue working on this. :D Everyone have a safe and fun Fourth of July!

Happy 4th of July weekend to you all.
My weekend actually sort of started today. Had to take the wife for a medical procedure this morning and we got back about noon. Good news is it isn't something serious like they thought. She may need to have a surgery later this year but that isn't as big a deal now. Running a couple of reports now for work and then it's off to the workbench to see what I can get into. :) Looks like the rain stopped so maybe painting some detail parts is first.

Saturday - Again helping on Saturday #3 of 4 for my sons Eagle project (more like just standing around chatting with the other troop leaders). After that, I hope to fiddle with the auto rack project I started last weekend before cooking up some hamburgers for dinner.

Sunday - Planning to cook some spare ribs so once those are cooking, it's off to the train room. Not sure if it will be finding a new project for the work bench or starting on some additional scenery for the layout.

Monday - I'm on call so that can go either way. Hopefully it will be more of whatever I start on Sunday.

Safe travels Jim and to any of you who may be hitting the road this weekend!

Greetings and here's to a fun, happy, and relaxing long weekend to all.

    1. I see some grilling in my future along w/ icy mint juleps at cocktail time each night.
    2. Trainroom plans: Pull up some buildings and lay down a little track to get to the NW Albemarle approach area that I got done last weekend. Also will do some building work.
    3. Workshop: I have a cabinet w/ models that are "projects in progress". I hope to grab a few things out of there and progress some rolling stock projects.

    Happy Firecrackers all!!

    Thanks,
Apparently these engines are prone to dumping lifters. And - it is a hit and miss kind of thing. There are tons of our vintage Silverados that have no issues. I happen to draw the short straw. So, when I pick her up - I will have the Range AFM deactivater in hand.
Other than this major issue - my truck has been great. I plan on keeping her for a very long time.

    Have a good one,
    Wolf

For me even though it’s a holiday weekend the amount of weekend days won’t change for me. My weekend starts sunday.

Work will continue on the module. Now that all water works are complete, track work will commence. Hope to have it all complete in one weeks rime before I go on vacation. While the glue dries Sunday I will work on an electronics project.

I finished the river this past Thursday.

Four day weekend for me, so I got started last night!

This morning, I finished decals on three coal hoppers and began assembly of a E&B Valley Ballast Hopper kit.

My truck has a sensor issue that won’t let it start, so I had it towed to the dealership to have it fixed. However, I was able to get some 1x4x6’s in my wife’s car so I have benchwork material to work with the rest of the weekend.

Planning on mostly benchwork construction for the rest of the weekend.

Been working on this on and off for way too long. This is a Redball kit I kinda inherited, repainted and finished up. Added some to the bottom of a Bachmann transformer to make it look a little better on a drop deck flat, well I tried to anyway.
    Happy 4th of July everyone!

Do you ever slow down, Rick?! That's quite an ambitious list but I have no doubt you'll knock it out!

Things have picked up lately on my end of Anaranjado Grande (a.k.a. Been Nothin' Since Frisco) and I have suddenly gone from working every day and a half to being called on my rest. I don't know who I need to know to get a day off around here but no matter. That's going to work itself out because I just tied down the train that was my sixth start. Now if they put me to work going back home that will be 72 hours off. If not it's still 48 hours off. Boy, what will I do with all that time? Let's see.... cut the grass, wash some laundry, change the oil on the wife's car and.... work on some models!

Hope your Monday was quiet. I remember my weeks on call, phone ringing at 2AM with problems needing a solution and with the expectation that I'd be back in the office at 8AM ready to work a full day, then go back to being on call that night, and all with no extra compensation. Ugh.

Moved my kid between apartments on Saturday, somehow surviving the night sleeping on a punctured air mattress.

My old pickup truck is dying. Now that the apartment move is done, I have one remaining mission for it before it's sold -- more lumber for my N Scale benchwork.
