While visiting family in Salt Lake City, UT, I visited a couple of local train shops...

I picked up an Atlas GP35 w/ESU sound (ATSF), an Atlas articulated auto carrier (TTX), and a couple of MT 3 bay open hoppers with loads (ATSF).

I also picked up several Unitrack pieces & accessories for modifications I've designed for my layout.

I like picking up train stuff in places we visit; it adds to the memory of the trip.

Me too. Getting harder and harder to do it these days with so many hobby shops having closed. :(

Something a little different. I've been collecting European steam and rolling stock for a while although it's been a decade or so since I've bought something in that genre. This is my first Fleischmann with sound and they really did a good job with it (Henning). Lights up under the walks too. I hate the rapido couplers installed on it but it comes with realistic display couplers (for that locale). Will be updating the rear to the profi couplers which although are still huge function much better than the rapidos and are what I use on all my Euro trains.

I just ordered several sheets of various printed Clever Models textures for my upcoming Nn3 small roundy round layout to model a couple of gristmills in the Missouri Ozarks. Of course for some reason I seldom finish what I start. Very bad habit.

Where would you recommend visiting. My wife has an aunt in Sandy UT (suburb of SLC) and we are planning a trip out in August.

Can we see the fishing folks? Was just at the hobby shop today looking at Woodland Scenics figures including the canoe and people. Man that stuff is tiny :)

Visited the local hobby shop this late afternoon. My old Atlas remote switches are over 20 years old if not 30 years, wires pulled out, most don't work correctly anymore, even in manual mode. I think I wired 2 of them up in the 1990's. Going with simple this time with just simple Standard 2702 and 2703 Atlas brand new switches. And this hobby shop is old and nothing is ever priced the same usually. Always negotiate with them to match internet prices, as I would rather they get the sale when I can. Bought all they had. When they lower the prices I try to spend more and get more :) I am super excited, haven't had NEW switches in decades! Other stuff to the right from a few month's ago from there! Including a N Scale Walthers Modern Gas Station, not in the picture. I figure I'll have the basics done by 2030 :) Heck it's only two 2 x 4 bases, you think I'd be done, NOT!

Just received 5 more pieces of Z scale Atlas flex track for my Nn3 “layout”. Now I have a total of 11 pieces (about 22 feet) of track and enough Nn3 locos and cars to make something happen (thanks Showcase Miniatures). B6D8AC3C-125A-4F00-BDFC-A8D1D4F2B7BD.jpeg Sigh. Now I’ve got to keep my motivation levels high enough to actually DO something with all this.

Being an SP person I could not resist. I only got one a couple of months ago and just have not been motivated.

I'm in, and I will bring the chips and dip... oh you mean online, my bad :) Already organizing extra Atlas N Scale track into labeled baggies, 2520, 2510, etc... try to put loose rolling stock back into their jewel cases, and use a few of my brand new purchased ( Thursday ) Atlas Standard Manual Right and Left switches on my layout, etc... Don't worry it won't last long :)

Just received 2 ancient Atlas USN helium cars from a NSLHS (not so local hobby shop !!!). One already M/T'ed, so that saves a few pennies. Need 3 more. Should have got these 45 years ago when they were everywhere !!!

2 are already installed - DN163A0 in an Atlas Dash 8-40B, and the DZ126T in a Bachmann GP40 ( i posted about their installation in the DCC section, for both) - the wired one in the Bachmann was very easy, following TCS instructions actually !!!
Last one (DN163K1C) will go in a Kato SD40-2 snoot....probably today since it's raining in Michigan

Was happy that I didn't have to buy another quart of paint for my benchwork. :) Found this afternoon was a quart of Valspar "Coastal Dusk", as bought for $28.06 at Lowes in late 2019 before a family matter took me away from model railroading until now. I was also happy to have found it for a second reason -- the color is no longer offered and I'd already painted my control panel with it.

As much as it costs I would prefer to allow folks to view it. Not hide it. :)

:ROFLMAO: I enjoy woodworking and briefly thought about staining the train table, but then thought about the many extra hours it'd take to do so and decided against it.
