There was a Dr. Shock and Ding Bat in the Chattanooga TN market (was on the ABC station) as well. That was early 70's.
The Dr Shock I'm referring to was on UHF, (how many TB members remember UHF?), WPHL-17 out of Philadelphia. His show airing B rated horror movie was at various times called, Scream-In, Mad Theater and Horror Theater. According to Wikipedia, the Philadelphia Dr Shock was around two years before the Chattanooga Dr Shock.
I got to meet Dr Shock (Philadelphia) when I was a kid. They drove him to the field in a hearse and then pulled a coffin out of it. He climbed out of the coffin. I think I was about 7 or 8 at the time and it was the greatest thing to talk to him and shake his hand.
Tom that is awesome. I met Peggy Fleming and Sally Star at the Bucks County Mall shortly after it opened. Sally Star had a stagecoach that gave the kids a ride around the parking lot. I also met Chief Halftown at Street Lanes across Street Road from the mall. That was a separate occasion at one of his many bowling events for kids.
