I've only recently returned to the hobby and even with weaker vision and less dexterity than when I previously modeled in N gauge have decided to give Z a try. I'm only in the planning stages at this point and have been working on several layouts in AnyRail. I still have not completely decided between going with Rokuhan or Marklin for my track but have come to conclusion that either will be a good choice for someone like myself that isn't that interested in operations. Although I hate to sacrifice the authentic look of Marklin when properly ballasted I have to admit that the Rokuhan would perhaps be the better option for me at this point in my modeling career because of the convenience but, when trying to model a simple siding in AnyRail it seems the geometry is off. Specifically, when laying down a 13deg curve (R012) on the diverging track and inserting track sections (R001/9) to run parallel to the main, the length of the same number of pieces on the main between the two points (R006/7) are shown to be too long. The same is true if inserting track sections on the main in which case the sections on the siding do not align. I don't find this to be the case when modeling the Marklin track. Before I take the plunge and order the Rokuhan track, can I assume this just an idiosyncrasy of the software that won't cause me any issues in the real world?

    Does this match your description?

If so, you should have no problems. This was made with R001, R012, R006, R007. I'm using AnyRail 6 and all track ends fit perfectly.

Eyesight plus age plus dexterity= please stick with Rokuhan track. If this track had been available when z scale began it would have been adopted by many modelers. The fiddle factor with Marklin track has turned off more people than not from the scale. Personal opinion.

Okay, you got me on that one. I said I was having a problem with a siding, but in actuality I was having trouble putting together multiple "sidings" while designing my yard. I've put together a file that shows the problem I'm having. As you noted the first "siding" isn't a problem, but with each sucessive track the gap at the end grows. Any suggestions?

Its a simple matter of Geometry
The first turnouts on each end the straight is running 110mm east and west. The second turnouts from each end the 110 mm straight is running at a 13* angle not east / west as a result of the angle the distance in the east west direction is about 2.8mm less than if it was running true east and west
You will need to use Rokuhan R036, or R038, (both are 112.8mm long) in place of the 110 sections between the turnouts for the sidings

For your ladder tracks to work you will need two 112.8mm long section for the first siding (2nd track from the bottom)
4 112.8 sections for the 2nd siding (3rd track from the bottom)
6 112.8 sections for the 3rd siding (4th track from the bottom)

Well I think you answered my original question. It appears there was an issue with the software... my unfamiliarity with it. The sections R036 and R 038 appeared so far down the track menu that I didn't realize they were there. Thanks!

TJ, can you color-code the track pieces so that it more clear. This can then be captured by many for a cut-n-paste in the future.
    SCARM let’s you color track.
