A black cat crosses the the RIP track, a crow caws ominously from the old decrepit telegraph pole and the sun is an ominous shade of blood red as it rises from the east...

It must be Friday the 13th...on the railroad.

Welcome back everyone! Yes it maybe Friday the 13th but it really isn't that scary, unless your superstitious. Fortunately I am not superstitious, I'm just stitious! Lets get started to the gateway to the weekend.

Saturday: Though technically my weekend starts today, it is to help my step son move to St. Louis. I'm looking forward to his next step in life, especially since his new career involves transportation, including rail! I will however be working in the train room this weekend after a summer hiatus. Because of an impending move, I'm being pro-active and downsizing and organizing the shop and train room. I'll enjoy this while listening to podcasts. I also need to head to my not so local hobby shop for ballast and a warehouse kit.

Sunday: In nearby Bloomington, the third Sunday of each month during the summer, they have a huge antique and swap meet. Ang and I plan to get up, have breakfast and visit the show. Ang and I love old things and last time I was lucky enough to find a 66' Ford Mustang motorized promotional model for my collection. You'll find everything from gas pumps to door knobs here. It's a fun day to walk around and see all the neat things of the past and spend time with my sweetheart. After that, I hope to work on the HO switching layout.

So how about you? What do you have lined up for the weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 16th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and...

    High Greens!

    Happy Friday Y'all!!
We made it through another week.

My plans are simple: Continue work on my next F7 project - SP DF-7 class A-B-B-A

    Y'all have a great weekend,

I'll follow SP-WOLF in keeping my weekend plans simple.

Spend a morning sorting donations at the petfood pantry.
Clean up around workbench in cellar.
Start on filler pieces for my HCD layout which I finally rip cut this past week. (y)
Make a simple riser to raise my modeling bench tool organizer.
Move some small storage cabinets in train room in preparation for future workbench reconfiguration.

    Have a good one!

I hope to do a little touch up paint, then gloss coat and decal my N scale RS3M and GP9M Housatonic locomotive scratch/bash projects. Here they are just placed on the layout mid-way through the paint process and before I removed the steam generator domes on the GP9. Of course, I discovered the prototype HRRC GP9 #7324 did not have a steam generator, until after I painted the already modified shell. o_O

I hope to continue on my benchwork. Built a nifty little jig to accurately drill lag bolt holes in the table legs. It took a while to assemble it, but it'll save me from mis-measuring a bunch of holes.

Happy Friday all. This weekend I have more "honey-do's" lined up, but will still have some time at the workbench. The goal is move along the CV bridge project that is on the bench. Also, I have a bunch of ITLA industrial modules that will make up a building slated to sit near the new bridge. I may pull those out and start sorting through them to figure what needs to be cut and how.

    Have a great weekend all!

Good morning from cloudy and hot Northeast Ohio!

Tonight, I am going to the bowling alley to organize the league, and see if we have enough teams to have a league this year.

Saturday, going to club so I can try out my new Tangent 86' Hi-Cubes in Wabash, DT&I and B&O to go with my other 86' cars. In the evening I will be working on decaling some cars and starting to assemble some other cars and engines.

Sunday will complete the decaling on the cars and continue assembly work on the cars.

Should be a nice lazy weekend. Just finishing up the odds and ends for next week.

After that it’s time to hit some deferred house repairs hard.

    Happy Friday everyone.

I just got a new OptiVisor so first thing I want to do is to get the lighting unit installed on that. Then I've got 2 locomotives on the bench that have non working head lights. I may also touch up the scenery along the front edges of the layout where the line poles got added last week end. After that, we'll see. Everyone have a great week end whatever you end up doing.

OptiVisors are a life saver. I don't know what I would do without mine. I sure wouldn't be able to model in N Scale. I would have to switch to G or bigger -- LOL

Flexible hobby projects interspersed with fixed soccer games to watch this weekend. Staying home for a change, which will be nice.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as I carve out the time, I will tackle the following:

Make the steam dome for UP 2295. I have been working on the design off and on for a few weeks. Finally came up with a compromise shape I like and a plan for how to make it. Getting it "perfect" would require a level of 3D rendering beyond my skills at this time. Hopefully the compromise will be good.

Practice soldering pewter. If I am successful I will be modifying the overlays for the trailing truck. If I am not successful I will be practicing gluing pewter.

BONUS Monday: I signed up for the Intro to Laser Cutting course at the local Makerspace on Monday night. This is the prerequisite to access to the laser cutter. I finished a drawing of the driver overlay I want for the Mikado this past week. Now I need to make some test pieces to see if it translates to the model. Had a very generous offer from a fellow modeler to cut the discs for me. However, since the parts would need to be exchanged via mail the iterations I expect would take a long time. I hope to at least do prototypes locally to tweak the design. I want to make sure I have the drawing and design right before risking the final material. So one more step into modern modeling techniques for me.

    Stay safe,

Been communicating all week with a couple of HOn30 manufacturers, about alternatives to a vastly overpriced part. Also to find a substitute for another item, now discontinued. Waiting on another parts order. Might start a laser depot kit. Or another freight car kit. We shall see how high the old ambition level rises!

Yep. Friday the 13th. Good day to finish the week. I am happy to report that the bungalow is "move-in" ready. Still needs porch details and some some other stuff. I believe the "McCorkles" are in fact moving in today! Also, progress has been made on the new drive linkage with the normally expected amount of bugs manifesting themselves. :D I hope all have fun and stay safe

I am playing catch up with things after returning from our short vacation in Virginia Beach early this week. Also we were blindsided by the sudden death of our dog yesterday. I now have things to take care of because of that such as contacting a local shelter to donate food and some unopened medical supplies (he was diabetic). The list of household stuff is laundry, put away the traveling bags, weeding the gardens, and runs to the grocery store, produce store, and pharmacy.

In the modeling world I am debating my next project. I am thinking of building the passenger station and platforms. I have a couple of passenger cars that need upgraded couplers and wheels. I am also getting a hankering to weather some rolling stock since it has been some time since I last did some.

    Happy Friday the 13th all!!!
I'm just repeating my listed plans for last weekend. The wife kept me so busy with stuff I got very little done of my plans. This weekend should be much quieter.

Saturday, work on a little scenery and clean up the train room. Then, have errands to run with the wife.

Sunday, I have a few rolling stock upgrades and updates I have been pondering for a while. Plan of spending most of Sunday going through and pulling out a bunch of cars to work on and separate them into groups by what they need, then dive in and get started. I'm thinking painting and decaling will be first while the weather is still warm.

Random thought for you all - even though today is bad ole Friday the 13th, the 14th will be a Sadder-day...……..I'll crawl back under my rock now :D:ROFLMAO::p:cool:

We’re hoping to do some family things this weekend before school starts next week. However, I should find some time for work on the layout.

My goal is simple: I want to get a few sheets of the masonite panels and rip them on the table saw for the backdrop.

Kevin, I'm on board with that! I'm using the heatwave as an excuse to put off yardwork. I think my wife sees right through it and realizes I'm just making excuses so I can get some more hobby time in.

Here's one. The jig is crude, but it works. By drilling where I inserted the drill bits, the lag screws will be perfectly centered on the legs and at perfect height to bite into the center of the Hollow Core Doors. Unseen behind the leg is a small integral shelf on which the corners of the HCDs will rest.

That popsicle stick performs a vital function of holding the thing in place. :)
