That is definitely worth a chuckle. But as a freelancer, I'm tempted to place a bid on it. Who knows what sort of home-built blower a struggling railroad may have come up with? Sadly, I don't freelance the northeast, so I'd have to reletter it. Upside is that it's already a dummy (per the "Item Specifics", so grain of salt), so DCC wouldn't necessarily be an issue.

It must have erroneously been left off the roster when PC was dissolved.

I seem to remember seeing this at Morrisville yard in Bucks County Pa. It was working the hump!

This would have been more fun, equipped with a butane lighter.

    What was this cars purpose??
I'm assuming this was for deicing tunnel interiors.

The jet nozzle was directional and It was tried in the yards. Not very successful.

That dummy unit needs some cleaning and has a broken coupler. Can't grade at C7. C6 at very best, even though the system was originally intended for tinplate models. This is a five dollar item, (or less), at most swap meets I have attended.

Yep, a deicer. Gotta hand it to the NYC in its latter years for its creativity in this, Flexi-Van service and jet engines on the roof of an RDC.

"...I bought this on an estate sale..."

I read that as "I prey on unknowing widows and had paid them penny to a dollar for this item, which I now want to offload at a highest possible markup."

    "L@@K RARE !"

The seller made me an offer of $205. My reply to him was that I had bought a much cheaper one. In fact a $175 cheaper one. This guy is in la-la land. The loco has a bad motor design and will not run and the only thing of value is the shell.

I must have missed a very specific point in time- When was it that rusty, dusty and dirty became "like new"?

If we could just go back to the eBay of 15 or 20 years ago, when there was lots of cool stuff on there and really good deals to be had.

As well as little local newspapers. The big replacement is almost gone as well. So it's on the computer and on the street.
