started working on my 3d printed rail repair house. right now im waiting on the floor/ track to be printed 6 hr print. then the roof and a crane for inside. got all excited when i got back to working on my layout. ive been very discouraged with it and almost tossed it all in a box. still have not dug out the electronics . people tend to be not helpfull in answering questions, but instead want to give you everything but the answer to your question. any who. im back at it again. after running my new atlas 23b ive rekindled that fire. so here are a few pics of my 3d printed engine house. its not finished yet. long print times.
maybe somebody will enjoy the pic. ill post back when its all finished. i need to figger out windows (cracked broken ect ) prob dirty windows too. :D

That looks fantastic Sidney. I really like the architecture. If you can save the acetate from packaging or find some thin sheets then those work well for basic glazing. Real easy to cut with a hobby knife. Airbrushes solve a lot of problems for weathering and making dirty windows using super thinned paints on a low setting.

Are you going to be doing smaller panes within the window openings that are already there?

i wish i had an air brush . i do so need one.
im not really sure about the windows yet . wish i had a green clear sheet. I have a red sheet , but i dont think that would look ok. ive got some plastic from straw berry container i used on a apartment building
. i posted the finished floor in WHATS ON YOUR WORK BENCH area. ill post pic here to . maybe mods can move this to where ever it needs to go. i did finish the floor but im going to scrap that because i want a pit in between the tracks now and the whole shebang ( floor) needs to be 6 mm high . right now its 8 mm . I do love 3d printers (ender 3 is what i have ) i tried using octo print but it has failed so many times now i just gave up. back to the old way.:)
    Oh and Thank You

I've yet to delve into 3D printing but I think it's really cool that the possibilities are endless if you own one.

If you already have an air compressor where you can regulate the pressure down to around 10 pounds a good airbrush, hose and in-line air drier would be less than $200. Besides weathering you can use it for painting the buildings too and get a nicer finish than if hand painting. I have a few brushes but the one I use the most for these types of projects is the Badger sotor 2020. It can do anything from a thin pencil line up to around 1" spray pattern. I shoot mostly acrylics (Tamiya, Mr Color, Tru-color, etc) and thin with Mr Color levelling thinner which retards the drying time as acrylics sometimes dry too fast especially when it's warm.

You should be able to find clear green acetate film online pretty easy if you search it. 100 microns or .1mm thickness would be ideal.

Nice work. Are you going to put the print files on thingiverse.com?

Also the roof-top coolers look familiar. Wondering if they are the ones I put up (been hoping people are using them),

"N scale what else is there :D"

I have a full O gauge setup. Christmas and battery power. :)
I have a DCC HO gauge. With a 4-6-0 steamer, 0-6-0 switcher, 4 passenger, 2 refers, 3 box cars, 6 flat cars and a short caboose. Car, truck, tractor and airplane. Six sections of straight track to display them. Not all at once. :)
ONE DC Diesel in N gauge. No track but 3 controllers.
Maybe more next year if Social Security holds out.

    Rich ;)

Cool, I didn't recognize the track.

Thingiverse isn't that hard once you do it a time or two. I usually put the .stl and .fd3 files along with any pictures I want to also show in one folder on the computer. On thingiverse you hit there upload button and upload the files in that folder. Put a name on it, maybe a brief description and that is about it. Pretty easy let me know if I can help. Some people don't put up the .fd3 file if they have one but I usually do as that is easier for someone to modify vs. the .stl file.

I like the building and at some point might like to print it myself. Thanks for posting it and like what you've done with it,

ok i got it figgered out sorta . they had my account all messed up so finaly got that fixed .
posted what i could . sidverse is the name. i need to gather up all the things ive remastered and get them organized so that i can put those in there as well.
on your track i had to raise it up then cut off the bottom once i got it all put together so that the code 80 rails would fit for code 55 rails you probably just lower it from 6mm to like 4 mm then code 55 rails should be right at the floor level so there not protruding up. any who . got more work to do .
