Yesterday, I was surprised by NS 1067 single-handedly leading NS 20V East past the former Reading freight house in Wernersville, PA, on the NS Harrisburg Line. The freight house held a pizzeria for many years but is currently vacant.
Kind of washed out, but still a favorite memory for me. About 35 years ago, this guy showed up at BN Interbay (Seattle), WA. Seen here about to be run through it's inspection before being sent back out again:
Picture of Kingston CT station take by my sister from an Amtrak Window: They were bound for Roanoke VA. It reached DC and there were no diesels available. Ooooops. Couple of hours later they 'arrived'.
So am I. It's a real beauty. It's got class. When I see a station like that, I always daydream of moving in and setting up housekeeping, and putting in a nice big train room...
Just checked - its Rhode Island. Close enough to spit a wad of chawin' tobacky over the state line...
Couple more pics she *just* this minute sent from the 'Museum of Transportation Virginia: Nice shot of this steamer: Not sure where she caught this:
I've been making the most of the fall color in the Minot, ND area. CP train 199, just west of Minot. Westbound local crossing Gassman Coulee. Westbound H75 local just west of Burlington, ND. Westbound CP 199 at the Split at golden hour.
We made it to Chicago yesterday on one locomotive. Left one in Denver after it broke down. They still were scorching the ballast all the way.
