After a sixteen year absence, i drove to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania today. The highlight of the trip was across the road at the Strasburg RR, where the Norfolk and Western 611, a (J) 4-8-4 continues. Also glad to see some old favorites at the museum, the Shay, GG-1 4935 and PRR E7A 5901, among others. I shot 638 photos today and have only reviewed about three score thus far. Dave
Nice shots Dave. I must say I can't picture a 4-8-4 the size of 611 running with comfort on the Strasburg, but obviously she can and I'm thankful for it. I read recently that she'll spend the winter there and receive some needed maintenance. My wife and I rode behind 611 back in NS fantrip days. My late father shot this photo of our train at Flat Rock, NC having just ascended Saluda Grade ...... with a little help. [05/30/1993]
