Sad news. what a tremendous loss to the model railroad, especially N scale, community. R.I.P. Jim ! ! May God bless and comfort his family during these rough times.
Very sad news! Thoughts and prayers for the family. Always enjoyed his picture and movies of his layout.
I don't have memory of anyone with that name. But, if he's as well known on this board, I probably learned from him. It is sad to loose those.
JIm's last post on TB was on Jan 6th. I will need to take the two locos I got from him out for a spin The New Oakville Sub You actively posted in that thread!
This was a shock for me. I had lots of talks with Jim, he was an all-round great guy. Amazing layout, neat trains running, loved the big earthworm trains. A true N Scale legend. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Rest in Peace Jim, and thank you for all your help!
That is so sad. Prayers for the family. I had a few dealings with Jim on the N Scale Yard Sale board and he was a top shelf seller. Godspeed, Jim.
Sad news indeed. You could not look at his work without being inspired. Prayers for his wife and family. Ralph
Just got back from Jim’s Celebration of Life service. Thank you to all that posted here; I printed out the comments for the family. Anyone wishing to remember Jim can make a donation in his name to the Illinois Railway Museum. Charlie Vlk
Jim's obituary published on the 22nd https://www.daily-journal.com/obitu...cle_13314de8-7aef-11ec-8a69-836bdd6bebd6.html Link to his site: http://theoakvillesub.itgo.com/
Very sad to hear this. I was a fan of his Oakville posts, his work was exceptional. Prayers and condolences to his family.
The locomotives and rolling stock are being sold off by Jim's family. I believe the layout is going to be scrapped. I have not heard of any plans for it to be preserved. Charlie Vlk has been in contact with the family and should be able to provide more details. I was thinking of attending the NSE convention in Nashville this year and would have liked to have seen Jim's layout after seeing pics of it on line over the years.
