Nice pics Hemi and Russell!!! I caught a CSX local making a crew change in Henderson NC earlier this week. Waited around for a bit hoping to get a shot of them heading out but the light got bad and they were still just hanging out.

Taken on Thursday, local F764 rolls south at Elgin, SC. Manifest F784 was following. For a short while, this normally sleepy segment of the former SAL main was looking like a big time railroad. Elgin, SC was once called Blaney, but was renamed Elgin when the Elgin National Watch Company of Elgin, IL built a new manufacturing plant there in 1963. The new plant was unable to compete with foreign manufacturers and closed only four years later. The name stuck, though there's a movement to restore its name back to Blaney.

I was atop the snow and ice, not getting wet. Too cold recently for wet water! . In spring or summer months, this can be a deep torrent, too.
