I was wondering if anyone else has one of these?

I recently purchased one to use with my test track that I am working on and to use for speed matching engines.

I tell you, if you have never used one, it is quite an eye opener.

Prototypical speeds are much lower than a feller thinks they are, at least for this feller.

I was going to try to embed a video, but I am not going to be able to as I don’t have an account on any of the allowed hosting sites.

This has been my "go to" method of speed matching ESU decoders for years. Excellent tool to have

Yes, particularly for N-scale, scale prototype speeds can feel very slow.

some years ago i built two of them [one standing and one in a freight car] and used them on a 1890's layout ... my maximum top speed is 28 mph,

    Tad,
yes, I have had one for several years now. Invaluable for speed matching, I have Dtrax, Zimo, ESU running together in consists. Could not have done that easily without the speedometer.

Talking about scale speeds seeming to be too slow, when our club runs during the 5 day Fair shows we have two different speedometers on the layout. First thing the kids say is "make it go faster mister". When you tell them or their parents that "that train is doing 70 mph" they just laugh. However, when they watch long enough to see it go through the speedo and it reads out "70" we just grin. Lots of fun !
