Santa Fe seems to have temporarily taken over the layout.

Good morning from sunny and mild Northeast Ohio turning to cold and snowy tonight!

Did not get much completed this week, but I did get one car done!

Red Caboose 1937 AAR Boxcar kit, substituted a Viking roof from Des Plaines Hobbies and Yarmouth Models sill steps. Car was painted with Scalecoat II Tuscan Red and Black Paints then lettered with K4 decals. Car was in general service on the NKP, the Van Swearigin railroads C&O, Erie and NKP were the primary users of the Viking roof on their 1937 AAR Boxcars.

This car would have been done if the decals had arrived like they should have, still don't have them. Walthers 89' Piggyback Flat, real pain to assemble as when they cut the sprues to get them in the box, the number of the sprue did not match properly anymore and they have to be in a specific order for the brake gear to be installed properly.

Went to the club last week with a pair of Kato PC SD45's and 13 Scaletrains PS4785 CF Covered hoppers, a pair of Tangent PS4750 CF Covered hoppers and some other cars.

    Thanks for looking!

I like that red & white "PC" logo. Wish it had prevailed over the plain version. But I am sure that due to pinching pennies, they decided against it?

The main reason they dropped and quit painting the Red P logo is that it faded quickly to a light pink color, they also did some of the 86' Hi-Cubes with the Red P also, and were repainted when the red faded to pink.

In addition they painted 10 GP40s and one RS3 with an Orange C to commerate the New Haven after it was added to the PC.

Here is a little color with Western Maryland FA2 #304 in the circus scheme and black and gold #303 passing O.L. King and Sons Coal Yard. Locos are tan boxed Proto 2000's.

These two locos have been a pain in the butt since I got them. I believe at least one if not both has the infamous cracked gear issue. I also have three undecorated units. I purchased them to use for the Jersey Central Babyface A and B shells I got from the Anthracite Railroads Historical Society. I changed out the chastises for the two WM units, however I had issues with the front couplers. Kadee #5's or $148's are two short so I got #26's which only work without the flat spring. I need to get and try the whisker equivalent of the #26. Then when I tried to run the two locos together rear to rear the couplers caused a short and were sparking. The couplers are missing their springs but I don't know if they were before or as a result of the shorts.

By any chance was one of the whiskers low enough to brush against a rail?

I was wondering the same but when I initially looked at them they do not appear to touch the rail. When I have a chance I will look at them more closely.

On 10 March 1964, Ford Motor Company released a new car... It became known in its early life as "The Secretaries Car", in later life, and after Mr. Shelby's touches, it was a super sports car.
We also have a picture of some TYCO GP20s, and some Rio Grande executive cars in front of a station.

Take your time please and dive into this picture.

    picture-2600-5.jpeg

It required 4 years of work and is even in Z-scale "big".

    Best,
    Sven

    Outstanding as always, Sven! (y)

The waterfront photo with the town buildings in the background is fantastic. I can believe that it took four years to get there. And relate to that - it took two years to do my HO scale 8'x6' layout up to about 99%. Three years after that I'm still adding to it (static grass, details, etc.).

    Keep it up!:)

Inspirational, as usual. Keep it coming and thank you.

Two weeks ago we had a train show in Ogden. I picked up this McCloud River Railroad boxcar, and the Monday before my friend finished painting this SWP (South Western and Pacific) double door box car for me.
These will now be found hauling lumber from the Pacific northwest on my layout.

Occasionally, we hear reports of wily entrepreneurs who are caught growing pot in one of those urban islands that get surrounded by an interstate highway cloverleaf. But it's not as if those youngsters have thought of something new. Up in the hills, such a thing wasn't too uncommon along the railroad. [IMG]

Here we see an old moonshiner, er, entrepreneur, in his shack, safely hidden on the hillside between the main lines at the Sebring (Ohio) Model Railroad Club.

    [IMG][IMG]
And of course, if the train crew knows to whistle the right code, they can take on a little extra "fuel" for their journey home.
