One heck of a sophistimacated patch job.... crossed out the old road name with a big sharpie marker and painted the new one with a rattle can... But that bugger is still soldiering on. One tough loco.
Here come da train. Here come da train. KCS unit leading a UP container train along the old International-Great Northern (MoPac) on the Palestine Sub in Hearne, Texas.
I’m traveling around Osaka and Kyoto this weekend. Not a planned railfanning trip-so all photos are caught on the fly. My apologies for poor quality. First is the “Thunderbird” a JR limited express train from Osaka to Kyoto (and further north)…683 series train. We had just got to the platform and I was carrying all the bags for the family and almost dropped my phone trying to get the shot. Next are some ballast cars and what are track geometry cars (I think) behind them-shot through the window of the T-bird as we passed a yard just north of Osaka. A lot of the yard was a container yard. At the north end was this locomotive. We were going fast and I couldn’t tell what it was. I zoomed in but can’t read the markings and I’m still new at identifying locos-US and Japanese. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Central of Georgia's Nancy Hanks operated between Atlanta and Savannah via Macon. It was named after a race horse that was named for Abraham Lincoln's mother! It made its first run in 1947. The CofG was later bought by SOU, and although SOU declined to join Amtrak, the Nancy made its last run on the eve of Amtrak, 04/30/1971.
Seen yesterday in Columbia, SC was NS 5004, a high hood GP-38-2. Until recently, I wasn't aware that fans are seeking these out because of their increasing rarity, so I grabbed a shot. Wish I could have found it in better light with the short hood more visible, but sometimes ya gotta go with what you get.
NS 3652 leads NS 1229 (?) and UP 2597 eastbound through Sebring, Ohio and past the Sebring Model Railroad Club today pulling a string of intermodals and trailer carriers on its way from Chicago to Pittsburgh. Sent from my SM-A716U using Tapatalk
Deceptively cold, Saturday morning dawned bright and warm colors were splashed across the sky. CP 4414, a former Soo Line GP38-2 and a GP22C-ECO idle in the 18°F air.
Iowa Interstate Cedar Rapids-bound CBCR descends the hill to Walford, IA with a loaded coal train. Train originated on the BNSF, interchanged to the IAIS at Council Bluffs. March 27, 2022 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I just noticed, with that angle, that the GP22C-ECO stands somewhat higher than the GP38-2. Especially when the '38 is facing the camera. There is a distinct "step up" from the rear of 4414's hood to the rear of 2222.
Tram on the Arashiyama line in Kyoto today. Again, sorry that these are “action shots”. Trying to manage two kids and navigate the family through tourist spots when you don’t speak a lick of Japanese can be challenging, to say the least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
From about 1975 at Barrington, IL, what is probably Train 599 rolls across the EJ&E. Barrington Tower as seen at the left is now gone.
