Kicking off this weeks Proto Fun with a shot of BNSF 1569 roaming the fairly new BNSF Center Point (Joliet) IL intermodal facility. Really a pretty neat place. Friday 4/29/22 Just a few miles up the road is the UP's Center Point facility which was not as easy to photograph. In between the two, I found this as well. Turns out it's just a drop yard for trailers with no siding and the actual CN ramp is several miles north at the old EJ&E yard in downtown Joliet
On Thursday, 5/5/2022, two heavily-rebuilt NS Geeps bracket the consist of a westbound Lebanon Valley local. NS 5827, now classed as a GP38-3, started out as a Southern GP50. NS 5664 was delivered to PC before passing through CR to NS, and being rebuilt as a GP38-2. The local is passing the former Reading RR Wernersville, PA, station and freight house.
Just a noselit, monochrome shot of CP train 149, the daily Chicago-Vancouver intermodal, passing Soo Tower.
From October 1977 at Knoxville, TN, seven units couple to their train and prepare for a move south. Note that GP-35 2707 is riding on Alco trucks.
Came home from work on Thursday night and found these pumpkins tied up in Marlette. The light was fading, but I still managed to catch this photo. The lead unit, HESR 3509, is a GP38-2. The second unit. 2026, is a GP38AC that came to HESR with the Central Michigan. It was formerly CM #8804. The third unit, hidden behind the tank cars, is HESR (formerly Marquette Rail) SD40-2 #3390.
Statue of John F. Stevens, located at Summit (Marias Pass), Montana. Noted GN civil engineer, namesake of Stevens Pass, Washington. Humor? The statue plaque states the elevation at Summit as 5216 feet. Just across the highway, behind the statue, BNSF's sign shows 5125 feet!
