Greetings everyone and welcome to the Gateway to the weekend! I hope you all had a great week and, in my absence, got some great modeling done. Why was I away? Well, no real modeling was done as Angela, and I officially got married. We just had a small service with mainly family. At my request like any railfan would do, we rode Amtrak's The City of New Orleans and spent our Honeymoon in New Orleans ridding the trolleys, seeing the sights and eating a lot of good food. Onward!

Saturday: Naturally when your away, things pile up. Between work and the jungle that was once a lawn, I'm hoping to be caught up enough to work on the NTrak module. I need to finish sand, stain and poly the legs and front fascia, then complete a set of joining bolts as the module is a two piece, then finish the sky boards. In between letting things dry on the module, I hope to finally repair the John Deere tractor, so mowing isn't such a long process.

Sunday: It is supposed to rain, so I will likely clean up the upstairs and bring the NTrak module inside. I want to start laying cork roadbed and track and get ready for the wiring. Galesburg is a little over a month away, so I need to get busy. Other chores will be to put in the air conditioners as Illinois switched from winter to summer like it always does. After that who knows, I'm sure Mrs. Wiggin will have some requests.

So how about you? What do you have planned for this weekend in May? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Monday the 16th to see how we all did. Until then, have a great weekend, be safe, stay healthy and as always...

    High Greens!

Update: Step-Daughter did not return to Minniapolis. I just don't have access to the trains.
Today: Take 16month grandson to library for special toddlers program
Saturday: Take 3 to 6 hour hike through urban environment in an effort to get ready for vacation in White Mountains of NH, (May 22 through May 29)
Sunday: Take another 3 to 6 hour hike.

Invitation to Join Me in Lincoln, NH May 24th through May 29th.
I have a room in a 4 star hotel with kitchen in room.
You should enjoy hiking even if it is muddy.

My top two goals are staying away from Camp Crystal Lake and one step ahead of Jason Voorhees.
Other than that goals are about the same as last week. Many brief periods of respiratory therapy and short walks on the treadmill.
I came up with some vintage Walthers paper printed cut stone retaining wall material.
If I finish the retaining walls I need to work on a base for the upper business district. Probably just thin plywood.
    Thats it for me.
Have a good weekend and watch out for Jason!

I’ve busy at work so a lot of small chores from the rest of the week have piled up. So that’s the first priority Saturday.

Late Saturday/Sunday-work on some UP covered hoppers.

Congratulations Jim. Best wishes for a lifetime of happiness together you with and the new bride.

My plans are up in the air for now. Saturday is lawn work and household chores. I'm committed to volunteering at the commencement ceremony Sunday morning. It will depend on what the rest of the day's weather is like.

    Have a good weekend, everyone.

My plan is to finish up my friends NYO&W locos. Saturday - decaling - Sunday - clear coat
As well as continue with my SP H12-44 project. Should get the decaling done tomorrow. Then start on the brass hand rails and adding other details

I am hoping to keep the scenery progress going on the N scale Housatonic RR. I have managed to fit in about an hour of scenery work, almost every night this week. Baby steps are making an impact. I worked toward the Canaan Union Station and the old diamond last night, including the overflow parking lot and old, unused, cement platform. There is more to be done. By the end of this weekend, I hope to push forward and finish the area around the diamond and do some detail on the wooded area past the station.

Congrats good sir! Living only an hour or so from the Big Easy I can attest to its many positives. Did you stay long enough to catch Jazz Fest?

As for me - there's a hot air balloon fest in lower Alabama tomorrow that the MRS wants to go to, and I'm only about 1/3rd of the way through my 1:1 fence scratchbuilding project. So those will likely take the weekend.

    So it goes . . . .

Glad to have an indoor hobby. March, er, I mean May continues here. Windy and cool right now under leaden skies. Mountains across the valley are hidden by snow squalls. Threats of thunderstorms, rain hail and snow. After laying out my track for one of the new modules, last weekend, I decided to make an alteration. My new track pieces are supposed to be here by tonight Beyond that not sure where my modeling will go. I might file more of my hydroplane racing button collection. We shall see.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wiggin! Glad you are back with such happy news. :) I am sure you and the Mrs. will have many happy years together. Good projects and pics listed above. (y) The stirrup step project was/is even "more funner" than I could have dreamed. The quadruple former I made worked reasonably well, though not perfect. All the steps are on now. Some trimming remains. One hopper body has been test fitted on the center beam frame. ;) I continue to rejoice! :D All have a fun and safe weekend. And good luck today!
(P.S. #Grey One, maybe have the 16 month old toddler build an access tunnel to the trains.[Seriously, I hope things change for the better.])

    First, welcome back Jim.

This weekend will be very little modeling, if at all. We are going out of town to Cape Hatteras for the weekend, so I plan on taking a few C&O RR books and some modeling reading to facilitate killing some time. I am getting some C&O passenger sides from the C&O Historical Society. One of the monthly magazines had an article on how to modify Athearn or Walthers passenger cars to take the printed sides. Plus I have some other articles that I've wanted to read.

    Have a great week all!

I don't know if I will get much modeling in this weekend. Being retired, weekends tend to be more about interacting with folks who work all week and want a little social time. Modeling activities can happen any day of the week with me.:):D

Good afternoon from sunny and warm Northeast Ohio!

A little late today, as I am just back from seeing the Heart Surgeon, who explained why I need surgery to repair the Mitral Valve and while they are in there they will do some ablations to fix my SVT problem I have had for years.

Russell, I go thru the same here, get a lot of modeling done during the week as well as the weekends.

But,tonight we are taking my son out to dinner to celebrate his 30th birthday.

Saturday, will be club then I may get some painting and decaling work done in the evening.

Sunday, will be laundry along with decaling and finishing the Railway Express express reefer.

@Jim Wiggin Congradulations! I wish you the best!

@BoxcabE50 Yes, 'Hobo RR'. I'll try to take lots of pics and actually post them this time. ☻ But, it won't be open until the end of May / Memorial day weekend.

@gmorider Thanks! They will and in the end I will have my own room. Well, or so I am told. ☻

    Congratulations Jim and Angela!!

This weekend is about having a list of things to do and seeing how far I get. There are a few family activities to attend to. Looks like dinner out followed by a soccer game tonight. Another game tomorrow morning and another Sunday afternoon.

    As to the list:

Finish the laser enclosure so I can put it back in service
Spend some quality time in the storage unit searching for a finish sander and squirrel-cage fan
Restore the spray booth to useful status (Dependent on finding the fan)
Work on logistics for the summer trip to Nashville and the N-Scale convention

Oh yeah, all this was supposed to be about modeling. I will report on Monday if that happens.

    Stay safe,
