Welcome back everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend and accomplished much. Let's get started.

Friday: I was able to leave work early and work on the NTrak module, mainly apply another coat of poly on the fascia.

Saturday: Mainly spent working on the bus lines for all three mains. I was in hopes it would not take long but my method does. Measure, measure again, cut, install the Anderson Power Pole connectors then rather than use a suitcase connector, I carefully cut a gap in the bus insulation, place a dog leg in the feeder, wrap said feeder around the bus line, solder then slip on shrink wrap tubing. It takes longer than suitcase connectors, but I have had better success in soldering. I also applied the last poly coat to the fascia. I tested all my lines with a pass on each line and ran out of day.

Sunday: As predicted, I got up early and Ang and I headed to her dads to get the cars. The car show was bigger this year and after registration and breakfast, we walked around admiring some very nice cars. A nice mix of stock restorations, 1960's style customs, or is it Kustoms? Trucks and Jeeps filled in the gaps. The pony cars are still the most popular with Camaros, Trans Ams and Mustangs from all eras. After the show Angela took her dad and I out for a nice Father's Day late lunch / early dinner. Once home, I worked on the dreaded ballast affair. The Code 80 track takes a lot of ballast, and I was not happy with my work but by 9:30 I was done.

This morning I see some touch up but for the most part the ballast is done. I'll apply some basic scenery and the skyboard tonight.

So how about you? What did you get done this past weekend? Let us know. We'll assemble again on Friday the 24th to start the process all over again. Until then, to our friends recovering from recent surgery, keep on recovering, be safe, stay healthy and above all...

    High Greens!

It was a good weather weekend being mild but it was windy. We had several potted plants blow over luckily there was no damage. On Saturday we got weeds pulled and leaves and sticks from under the magnolia. Sunday the family took me out for Father's Day dinner. We did get the majority of our vacation packing done.

I did not get much modeling done. I did paint the weights on a bunch of Athearn blue box kits. Also painted several coupler clips that were not black.

Worked here and there on the new layout section's mountain terrain in between household chores.

On Friday got the plaster cloth put on over the insulation board and cardboard strip structure. The front edge is being left unfinished until this section is installed into the layout and the fascia is done.

Then on Saturday I got some drywall joint compound spread over with a wet paint brush. Also finished a backyard irrigation projects which has been going on for some time.

On Sunday we went over the my father-in-law's house and my wife made fried oysters for lunch. When we got back I was able to get a coat of tan paint on the terrain. Never did get to weathering the tunnel portals. Also got more photo backdrops ordered for this area. Overall a good weekend and I was satisfied with the progress.

Good morning. Hope everyone had a great Fathers day. It was a good one here.

Saturday AM: Focused on getting in the cinder ballast bed at the track that was ballasted last weekend. That went well. Saturday afternoon I built the grain dryer for the C&C Pet Food mill and then built the main structure of the grain elevator. Piping, platforms, air-brushing all need to be completed.

Sunday: Cleaned the track where the ballast and cinder bed had been placed. Then spent the day running trains. Below are shots of the grain building progress and some of the trains that ran.

    Have a great week all!!

Well, I spent some time searching out alternatives for T-Trak module manufacturers. That was pretty much a wasted effort. Otherwise did a little work at the modeling bench. A tiny bit of progress on that gondola kit. But I was just not all that inspired. Watched a RR video. Looked at a slight alteration to some track on a T-Trak module. Researched a new item (freight car, MILW) coming soon and decided I will being ordering it. Then found another car of interest, which I need to inquire about to my dealer.

So, it was just a little of this and a little of that.... But it was enjoyable and that is the point of this hobby!

Well, overdid it on Friday, after having physical therapy I went with my wife to Costco and that trip took it out of me for the next two days.

I did manage to build a quick Bowser X31 boxcar kit and paint it and started on an Eastern Car Works depressed center flat car and a Branchline 50’ Double Door boxcar kit along with adding detail parts to a GP35 kit.

May get some decalling done this week.

    I had a great weekend!

Saturday we spent a lot more time clearing brush than I expected. I was able to help out more than I thought I would be able. It wore me out.

Sunday morning I started laying out sidewalks on the upper portion of my little layout. Afterwards I went outside to continue cutting up and carting off small trees and limbs that were cut down Saturday.

Sunday night I was too worn out to work on layout but I'm not complaining. It feels good to be transitioning back to normal.

I’ve been a bit silent the past couple weeks, however I haven’t been idle. This weekend:

Saturday was spent at the Golden Spike NHP then a layout tour of a modeler that lives nearby the park.

Sunday I sat down and finished (almost) drawing up a layout plan for an HOn3 layout. Double deck! It’s the Uintah Railway.

The lower deck is Mack CO to Atchee. It is pretty simple. The upper deck has a lot more to it. That’s Baxter pass to Watson. The helix is Moro Castle and the grade from Atchee to Baxter Pass. The upper deck also has two branches to the mo es on it.

There are a couple small issues I am working on to fix in the plan but so far so good. The Uintah had plans to expand but never happened. I am thinking I can use that idea to make some staging. Also there is dual gauge at Mack. DRGW was the connection to standard gauge.

I need to revisit the yard at Atchee, the Wye at Wendella, the approach to the helix, and work on a possible third deck showing the Rainbow branch.

    Hmm... how about giving
    me my afternoon snack

16 more feet of 1:1 fence installed and 16 waiting. The heat is killing my outdoor work progress. Also took the oldest boy to his hunting, fishing and outdoors summer camp. You won't se a happier 11 year old anywhere then he was when we left.

In MRR news I've started scenery on a corner of the layout. Just ground foam and t he first layer of static grass so far, but its something.

As expected, I spent Saturday working on outside projects since it was one of only a few days when the heat would not prevent me from being outside. So, I spent a good part of the day digging a 2-ft post hole through root-filled ground under mature trees, and then installing the new bird feeder tree that I have been building in the garage.

Sunday was Church in the Park, followed by a covered dish lunch and family time.

I got new trucks and one coupler (it only needs one) installed on my GoPro camera sled gondola and thought about how to counterbalance the weight of the camera hanging off one end.

Scout merit badge scoring, funeral prep and calling hours for my brother-in-law consumed Monday, and today (Tuesday) is sermon prep (so my secretary can start her draft of Sunday's bulletin) the funeral, and the obligatory funeral dinner. With all that, I may not get to the Sebring Model Railroad Club this evening, but I'm trying to remain hopeful.

That's a neat project Pastor John, durable, simple and it so nicely fits its environment. (y)

A combination Father's Day/Birthday for me which was nice. I'm not all that experienced working with foam scenery, so found some scrap 1/2" from the train table build and did some experimentation on a curved embankment, figuring that it would be most challenging. I used an "angle of repose" of 45 Deg. which maybe makes the embankment look a bit too massive, but I think I'll keep it. There will be a large mountain behind it with the curve carved out from the mountainside, so the embankment will scale down a bit. Disregard the rough look of the surface; it's from the coping saw I used to cut it. Later I finally found a foam cutting tool that a friend gave to me a few years ago and it's really neat.

Somehow I am not familiar with a "Wonder Cutter". Battery powered, it seems. A couple of "D" cells or some such? Rechargeable?

It's perhaps 10 to 15 years old and was manufactured by FloraCraft, a floral company. You're right, add 2 Ea old skool D Cells and that nicrome wire heats in an instant to cut like a laser. Its on/off switch is merely a metal tab that swivels to touch the metal end cap to complete the circuit.

Come to think of it, you're probably right. Plus, the cardboard tube would be packed with microprint in six languages covering California Proposition 65 cancer alert, battery disposal guidance, not to be used by children under 14, poison control center numbers and their Twitter address. But not how to use it.
